Southern Vintage Table Event – Styled Shoots with Taylor’d Southern Events

Earlier this spring we received the most interesting invitation to join a group of local vendors for a photo shoot at The Parlour at Mann’s Chapel. The intriguing part was that the owner of Taylor’d Southern Events was flying in from LA and her associate was driving up from Florida because they loved the charm of The Parlour. In addition, a group of photographers would be taking photos that would be shared with all the vendors. What a wonderful opportunity for us!

So Lauren and Taylor met at our studio and selected the table settings as well as the details that complemented their design. We loved helping them find their inspiration pieces and couldn’t wait to see the photos. They are starting to come in and today’s photographer is Casie Weather’s Photography. We love them!

More coming soon! We also participated in a shoot two days later with Taylor’d Southern Events at the McAlister-Leftwich House in Greensboro. These should be on their way, too!

Four years ago, our client rented several of our vintage floral tablecloths to celebrate her daughter’s high school graduation. This week, her daughter is graduating from nursing school and she’s invited family and friends to honor this wonderful accomplishment. Again, the floral tablecloths will don her guest tables, along with our vintage glass dinner and dessert plates. So pretty!

Alexa and Alicia, our tea party clients, are hosting their first event for their community organization, The Junior League of Durham and Orange Counties. The Mother’s Day Tea will be held at Hill House, a beautiful, historic home in Durham and we know it’s going to be a huge success! We all are excited to see this day come!

Final details were being made last September for Cherry and Ned’s wedding but then came an unexpected guest, Hurricane Florence. They may have missed their original date but their nuptials will be this Saturday at this gorgeous venue, The Parlour at Manns Chapel. We are certain the wait is going to be sooo worth it!

So, that’s our week ahead! From Durham to Chapel Hill to Pittsboro, we know our our vintage treasures will be enjoyed and appreciated!

Southern Vintage Table Event – A “Fascinator” Vintage Tea Party!

Fascinators

Bridal tea parties are wonderful celebrations but when custom-made fascinators are added, an incredible experience is awaiting your guests! Hosts Anita and Bev planned this shower for their nephew’s fiancé, Cambridge, and we were very pleased to provide the vintage table settings and serving pieces. Aren’t their tables beautiful?

Now for the fascinators (btw-a new word in our vocabulary!)

Upon our delivery the day before, Anita showed us her amazing creations. Each custom-made fascinator was beautifully crafted and more fabulous than the next. For most of them, she used headbands as the base and then embellished with feathers, tulle, ribbons, flowers, and even vintage family lapel pins. Of course, their guests loved seeing them all on display and then getting to choose their own!

Thanks so much, Anita and Bev, for inviting us to help with this lovely and happy affair! We are so intrigued by these cheery headdresses, we may try our hand at fashioning one or two for ourselves!

PS – Photos were shared by guests to an iCloud album and Bev shared them with us. What an ingenious way to capture an event from everyone’s perspective!

Vintage Feature – Two Weeks In, Two Weeks to Go

This week we’ve been emptying shelves, disassembling shelves, moving shelves, re-assembling shelves, and finally, filling shelves. (Thank you, Priscilla!) We love these shelves because they are heavy-duty and easily to re-configure, but they also are very heavy and sometimes difficult to assemble. But, with the help of Aud and Sean, they are in and ready for their vintage inventory!

Looking forward to filling these shelves and sharing our progress next week!

Vintage Feature – The Move Is On!

We have one month to do it and we are totally excited – we are moving! The big reveal will be next month but, in the meantime, we are relocating all of this . . .

. . . to this space! Instead of one open room, the new studio will have three rooms to design and fill.

Thank goodness we have kind friends and family who will be helping us because there’s a lot of vintage coolness to pack up! One thing is certain – It’s going to be amazing when we are finished!

Vintage Feature – 5 Reasons To Host a Tea Party!

Southern Vintage Table Vintage China Rental NC

Whether it’s the pretty vintage china, yummy tea and treats, or having fun with friends and family, the classic tea party is always a winner! If you are wondering why hosting a tea party is a such fabulous idea, here are 5 reasons that will convince you that your guests will love it!

~ Reason 1:  Tea parties are relaxing and festive affairs. ~

Sipping tea with friends and family may be one of the most relaxing ways to celebrate a special occasion. Whether it is a bridal or baby shower, birthday celebration, mother-daughter affair, holiday gathering, or an afternoon visiting with friends, a tea party creates calming moments of elegance we all enjoy.

~ Reason 2:  Teacups are exquisite, Delicate, and should be enjoyed! ~

We have many, many different patterns, colors, and styles of teacups. On display, these vintage teacups create a beautiful array which instantly launches the party atmosphere. Southern Vintage Table has more than 200 vintage teacups and we love every one of them.

~ Reason 3 – Tea serving pieces are beautiful and unique.~

Speciality tea serving pieces are fun to share with your guests. Vintage tea pots are as lovely as teacups, coming in a plethora of colors, shapes, and styles. Then there’s the classic tiered stand – it might be two tiers or three or even a tidbit tray or metal stand with individual plates – nonetheless, they display your treats in such a delightful way. There are vintage lemon dishes, curd and jam dishes, sugar and creamers, cake stands, and platters. All create a splendid sight on guest or buffet tables.

~ Reason 4:  Tea party treats are yummy. ~

A typical menu for a tea party includes a wonderful mix of finger food, such as delicious bites of tea sandwiches, petit fours, fresh fruit, and, our favorite, scones with lemon curd and jam. Other menu options include soups, nuts, the classic southern cheese straws, and small cupcakes. A choice of a cold beverage is always appropriate to offer your guests such as water, champagne, or even a tea cocktail.

~ Reason 5:  We can help. ~

Plan the menu, gather the flowers, and we can help with the rest. From vintage teacups to vintage lace overlays, we have the essentials and they are now listed on our updated “Tea Party Elements & Packages” page.  We also are featuring two specially priced packages for you to consider as well as an ala carte listing.

So, pick a date, make your guest list, decide on your menu, and give us a call. It’s time to relax, sip tea, and enjoy the moment with friends!

For fun, check out this recent article from the UK’s Daily Mail for advice on official tea party etiquette.  Personally, we love petite cupcakes with tea so we’re officially ignoring that one!

Southern Vintage Table Event – High Tea Celebration at UNC-G

This past week we were delighted to help with a very grand affair – a high tea celebration at the Alumni House on the beautiful UNC-Greensboro campus. The event was organized to thank JoAnne Safrit, an alumni and retired professor, for her gift of $1 million to the university. To honor her longtime partner, Catherine Ennis, these funds has been used to create the Safrit-Ennis Distinguished Professorship in Kinesiology.

From bass violin music to vintage tiered stands and platters filled with traditional tea treats, every detail was carefully planned by the Alumni staff. Take note of the personalized tags on the bags of cookies, the dessert menus, and of course, the lovely table and room decor.

Over 125 distinguished friends and guests came to honor Dr. Safrit, including UNC-G Chancellor, Franklin Gilliam. As you can see from the fabulous photographs by Mike Micciche Photography, it was a grand success!

Dr. Safrit’s generous gift received numerous announcements from press outlets including the Greensboro Record, Winston-Salem Journal, The Chicago Tribune, The Seattle Times, and UNCG ‘s website. Be sure to read more about her academic life and accomplishments.

Special thanks go to Event Coordinator, Wendy Tapia for giving us the opportunity to be a part of this wonderful event, and to Priscilla, for being my “helper” and friend.
