Southern Vintage Table Events – Michelle’s Magnificent Birthday Bash

Monique, owner of Keys Events, had a truly special event to both plan and host – her mother’s 60th birthday! As the creative genius of her company, she knew all of the elements for a successful party and, with this one being so personal, she excitedly started planning.

The Parlour at Mann’s Chapel was the ideal venue for this intimate gathering. After its booking and during the months before the October date, invitations were customer designed, menu planned, tablescape chosen, florals contrived, and photos gathered. Enjoy these spectacular photos from Samuel Holt and please note the vendor list at the end of our post.

Birthday Tables

Monique designed the birthday dinner table with our vintage retro dinner plates, wooden salad bowls, and silver-plate flatware. Vintage brown, amber, and red goblets were the perfect complement to the season and florals. We absolutely adore the final look!

When the date arrived everything was ready – a welcoming sign, a charming display of photos, scrumptious cake on display, tables set with our retro place settings, gorgeous florals in place, candles lit, and food ready.

Family and friends arrived early for the surprise celebration and then Michelle, her husband, and mother arrived. The expressions on everyone’s face beautifully portrays this joyous, sweet moment!

Happy birthday, Michelle!
Kudos to Keys Events for creating such a memorable evening
for your family and friends!

Vintage News – We Are Thankful

We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! As previous years’ posts have shared, our extended family meets every year for this favorite holiday, continuing a tradition started by our grandparents and parents over 50 years ago. Feasting, sharing memories, and catching up with family makes this holiday so special to all of us.

In honor of this season of gratitude, we want to give thanks for our good fortune at Southern Vintage Table. First, we are most grateful for our clients who have chosen our company to be a part of the wedding, luncheon, shower, dinner party, or corporate gathering. Meeting and helping you create the perfect celebration has been a great honor and sincere pleasure.

In the same vein, an enthusiastic shout out goes to our social media followers for keeping up with our business, liking and commenting on our posts, and just being there for us. We hope you know that showing your social media love is greatly appreciated!

We are also grateful to the creative vendors with whom we have worked to create amazing styled shoots. It is a joy to see how our pieces are used and we appreciate you inviting us to help.

And, finally, we are grateful for our new space. Since moving in last April, we have organized our vintage collections, met with numerous clients, and continue to update our offerings. This month we’ll concentrate on our decor and linens room and then we’ll be ready to give you a virtual tour!

“Piglet noticed that even though he had a Very Small Heart, it could hold a rather large amount of Gratitude.” A.A. Milne

Vintage Adventures – New Thrift Store Treasures at SVT

Vintage Dusky Blue Goblets

SVT has been in a busy, busy stretch with events and client meetings and in-between, we’ve been “procuring inventory, ” which is the fancy term for hitting the thrift stores. Hee hee! We thought you might want to see what we found these last two weeks. Although we can’t give away our secret places, we can say that these came from 4 of our favorite spots.

We mentioned these vintage dusky blue goblets in a recent Facebook post. It was a true vintage find – 9 total, 8 at one thrift shop and one more at another, all in the same day. This color is highly popular and we are so happy to add these to our collection!

These vintage silver-plated items are soooo nice! The compote needs a little polishing, but there are no dents nor pits. Imagine this filled with apples, lemons, or even a lovely floral bouquet! We love this unique flatware pattern, too. Found bagged up, when we got back to the studio we discovered that instead of stainless, it’s inlaid silver-plated. They will look terrific with our other vintage mixed patterns.

Perhaps the most atypical find were these vintage bobeches! These unique items are used to catch the wax from a taper candle. Some are plastic and some are glass but all are great to have in our inventory for someone looking to protect the surface under the candleholder.

You might think we found these two vintage tea pieces at the same place and time but that’s didn’t happen. They were at two separate thrift stores and found days apart but they do look so lovely together!

Finally, we came across these darling stoneware patterns. As vintage stoneware becomes more appreciated, we want to make certain we can accommodate our clients with enough for their guests!

Lastly, we’ve been contemplating our featured posts on Instagram and Facebook. Thanks to those who have chimed in – we hope to start soon!

News & Updates – Strategizing with Social Media

Delicious food (the grilled cheese sandwich with mozzarella on olive bread was soooo yummy), inspiring speakers, beautiful ambience (complete with enormous chandeliers), and sharing it all with a great friend – we’d say it was a pretty darn good day at the INNfluenced Conference held at the Carolina Inn this past Thursday. With a focus on social media, the speakers shared their successes on growing their business with these tools.

The strategy that caught our attention was how to structure entries on social media accounts so that posting is regular and anticipated. Using themes for certain days of the week, followers will know what to expect and even look forward to that day’s post. We didn’t realize it, but with our weekly Sunday website blog post, one day is already set on both Intagram and Facebook – Sunday’s Blog Post day. We haven’t called it as such but look for it today! (If you have any ideas for a better name, please share!)

Since there are 6 more days to cover, we needed a few more ideas that would jive with our vintage rental business – themes to delight and excite our followers. Here are a few possibilities we have so far …

Whew! Even though we have more ideas than days, we are still brainstorming. Questions we have to consider include – Which ideas will be the best fit with our vintage inventory and rental business? What day of the week pairs best with the focus theme? How do we manage photos, copy, and tags? Once we get it all figured out, we’ll start small, with two or three designated days, and then hopefully expand!

If you have any ideas or suggestions, please share, because that’s how we all do it better – learning from each other!

Southern Vintage Table Events – Styled Shoot at The White House on Washington

Stephanie Batten Photography

A “new” historic venue in Mebane, NC has recently opened its doors after an extensive renovation by its new owners, Celine and Aubrey Meador. Now known as the The White House on Washington, this beautiful home was once the home of the owners of the renowned White Furniture, a company that made fine furniture in downtown Mebane starting in the 1890s until the 1990s. Although White Furniture is no longer in business, this factory building, listed on the National Registry of Historic Places, has a new purpose as chic industrial apartments called The Lofts of White Furniture. Two wonderful legacies were left by the sons of Stephen White, a co-founder of the town itself!

These photos, courtesy of Stephanie Batten Photography, were taken at the very first shoot of The White House on Washington. We love how she styled our vintage wares on the tables and look forward to our first celebration as a vendor!

Learn more about this stately historic venue at this Southern Bride and Groom’s feature story. Also, read about the White Furniture Company on NCPedia and more about Celine and Aubrey Meador’s Mebane Historical Museum’s Preservation Award in the October 23rd edition of the Mebane Enterprise.

If we were to select one wedding style that we love the most, it would have to be bohemian chic. With the inspiration of nature and relaxed atmosphere, boho chic sparks romantic vibes in every direction! These photos by Mary Kaitlin Photography of Emily and Abraham’s wedding at the Little Herb House beautifully capture the essence of this timeless style.

This mod, romantic wedding had all the ingredients that melded so well together – Emily’s flowing wedding gown, Abraham’s classic suit, the soft earthy tones of the bridesmaids’ dresses, the macrame altar hanging, and our vintage place settings with amber goblets on wood farm tables. Add to that the tranquil setting of the Little Herb House‘s converted horse barn and beautiful gardens, and the result is perfection!

Southern Vintage Table Event – Jessica & Stephen’s Wedding Day

Jessica and Stephen
All Photos by Photography by Bellagala

Love is the most important thing in the world but baseball is pretty good – Yogi Berra

It was a beautiful June day – perfect for the artistic teacher and outdoorsy soon-to-be physical therapist to begin to their lives together as a married couple. College sweethearts, Jessica and Stephen, pledged their love for each other at the Trinity Avenue Presbyterian Church with friends and family in attendance, then we all skipped over to the Rickhouse to celebrate with this sweet couple.

This love-filled day was captured by Photography by Bellagala and we are so pleased to share their photos with you. As a friend of the family, we happily set the reception tables and arranged the vintage dessert stands for donuts, the couple’s favorite treat, before joining in the festivities.

Jessica and future sister-in-law, Melanie, designed these lovely, colorful tables. Notice the three vintage table designs – one with gold embellished plates and brown goblets, a second with blue & white plates and amber goblets, and the third with white stoneware and green goblets. With the beautiful floral centerpieces by Color Fields Farm and our brass candleholders topped with clear votives, the tables sparkled!

Southern Vintage Table Event – Tea in Wonderland Styled Shoot

Vintage Decor Rentals NC

The Tea in Wonderland styled shoot, creatively orchestrated by Stephanie of Beauty and The Budget Events and Ariel Kaitlin Photography, is colorful, playful, and truly delightful! We loved seeing Ariel’s photos as did the editors of The Carolinas Magazine because they chose this shoot to be featured in their magazine!

With this publication, The Beauty and the Budget’s blog post, a video by Jared Cook’s Films, and Revelry + Heart’s behind-the-scenes video, you will enjoy this shoot from multiple perspectives. Today’s post will focus on Southern Vintage Table’s vintage decor items and vintage tableware chosen by Stephanie for the shoot.

When Stephanie contacted us, we invited her to visit our studio to “go shopping” for the vintage pieces she’d like to use. We love seeing how our vintage decor is sprinkled in these photos and are thrilled to share them with you!

Vintage teapots, teacups, clock, candelabras, napkins
Vintage brass candleholders, bunnies, clock, teacup
