Thanksgiving 2018 for the Bass-Heath-Roberson families and friends was amazing! Fifty years ago the tradition began with our parents and grandparents who traveled far and near to share a homemade Thanksgiving feast. This time-honored ritual has become a favorite holiday celebration and we are grateful for the many memories this day has created for each of us.
Honoring our chefs, past and present, was this year’s holiday theme. Along with our beautiful white stoneware plates, green, brown, and amber goblets, multicolored napkins, and bakelite flatware, we incorporated vintage kitchen decor down the guest tables. Vintage sifters, graters, egg cups, and kitchen tools transformed into vases, filled with foraged florals, berries, moss, and greenery.
We’ll be back next year to do it all over again! Many thanks to Sandy, Rowena, and Sherry for setting the tables and designing the centerpieces. Also, we salute the Rolesville Masonic Lodge for their many good deeds and for generously allowing us to use their meeting hall for our family gathering. 
Our favorite holiday is this week – Thanksgiving! For more than 50 years, the Bass/Heath/Roberson family has come together on this day to catch up with the extended family and share a traditional holiday meal with all the fixings – turkey, ham, collards, chicken & dumplings, dressing, and Sandy’s mashed potatoes, to name just a few. Just typing this makes me so hungry!
The past 5 years, Southern Vintage Table has set the tables for this special family gathering and this year our planning started with a duvet. Yep, a duvet made from a beautiful fabric that now has been transformed into 6 table runners. The rich colors will bring a gorgeous palette of oranges, greens, ambers, and blues to the tables.
To complement the runners, our next decision for the place settings was easy – our white vintage stoneware. With the color scheme of brown, amber, and green, we will be adding a mismatched set of napkins, goblets, and bakelite/stainless flatware. And, since this holiday is all about food, we’re hoping to incorporate our vintage kitchen decor on the tables. Can’t wait to see how it all works out!
Sisters Janis, Sandy, and Rowena will be on hand to help make this memorable for our families, Looking forward to seeing how these pieces create a unique, fun look for this treasured holiday!

Last Sunday we headed to an open house at Forest Hall at Chatham Mills in Pittsboro. Every facet of wedding vendors was present. From food, drink, and florals to music, photography, and rentals, professionals were ready and available to help guests with their wedding plans. These wondrous photos, courtesy of Morgan Caddell Photography, captured the moments just before the doors opened.
In addition to our business table, we set the tables at Forest Hall with our vintage white stoneware, blue & white dishes, flatware, glassware, and napkins. Centerpieces and decor were arranged by two talented floral vendors; farm tables- All In Bloom, and round tables – Barn of Chapel Hill. With both round cloth-covered and bare farm tables presented, folks could envision the versatility and beauty of this historic space.
Exquisitely orchestrated by Anessa and Nathan Grimes of Harmony Weddings and Events, this opening was a huge success. Thank you, Anessa and Nathan, for the invitation to join this incredible group of professionals. Being a part of this open house reminds us all that it takes a village of talented vendors to create a fabulous event!

Today we are headed to Pittsboro to participate in an open house hosted by Anessa and Nathan Grimes at the Forest Hall in Chatham Mills. Set with our vintage white stoneware, goblets, flatware, and napkins, the tables mesh perfectly in this historic space.
This is not our first experience with this hip venue. We had the pleasure of helping Caroline and Alexander with their brunch reception and loved everything about their design using our vintage wildflower collection and colored goblets. And, yes, the windows are fabulous!
Come by and visit with a great group of vendors from 3-6 pm and see this restored mill space. Registration is free and we hope you to see you today!
Our favorite holiday is coming up – Thanksgiving! This day has always been special for the Bass/Heath/Roberson family because uncles, aunts, grandparents, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, close and afar, get together to share a traditional Southern Thanksgiving meal. We line the buffet table with favorite dishes, like turkey, dressing, collard greens, deviled eggs, chocolate eclair cake, and, of course, Sandy’s famous mashed potatoes.
The feasting place has changed over the decades though we have settled in the Masonic Lodge in Rolesville. In the past several years, Southern Vintage Table has joyfully set the tables and today we are sharing these tablescapes before next week’s post with this year’s design.

All year we have been excited about Alex & Caroline’s wedding! You see, the minute I met this delightful couple, it was obvious they were so perfectly matched. Their thoughtful plans were filled with freshness and originality and when they described their vision for their fall wedding featuring our vintage 70s stoneware patterns, we were truly thrilled. In addition to the mixed and matched vintage stoneware, their plan included our vintage green and amber goblets, stainless flatware, serving dishes, vases, and crocheted overlays. We couldn’t wait to see the final results!
With a morning wedding ceremony at the Haw River banks near Chatham Mills in Pittsboro, followed by a reception breakfast, everything about this day was organically beautiful. The details were creatively captured in the photographs below by Live View Studios and we know you will love them!

Shelly at Southern Vintage Table was a delight to work with! Our reception turned out like a vision thanks to the fun vintage tableware and accessories. Everyone was asking where we rented the mismatched stoneware plates and amber and green goblets. She was very responsive, creative, and detailed oriented. Highly recommend this vendor!
Preparations for the Bass family reunion began Wednesday with Christine’s daughters preparing the Masonic Lodge in Rolesville for our annual Thanksgiving feast. This year our centerpiece design included simple greenery and vines from our yards, white pillar candles and gold votives, and painted pinecones. With colorful printed napkins, mixed and matched vintage white stoneware patterns, and our brilliant vintage goblets. the cheerful tables were ready for our 60+ family members and friends.
Our Thanksgiving family tradition began in the 1960s by our grandparents and parents and has continued every year since. We all look forward to this day when family means parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, daughters, sons, grandchildren, friends, and neighbors. With four generations represented in the Bass lineage, tomorrow’s coveted day certainly will be filled with fun, love, laughter, and delicious food. We have been busy, busy, busy this week getting ready for 3 events next weekend and, of course, we are excited about each one! One wedding embraces an elegant style; the other features our casual collection. And, a set of uniquely different tea sets will be gracing the tables at Sunday’s tea party.
This is what is so cool about vintage tableware – the styles, colors, patterns, composition, and textures can vary dramatically. Whether it’s retro, rustic, boho, casual, elegant, shabby chic, farmhouse, or eclectic, vintage is versatile and distinctive.
Next weekend we will be sharing the depth and breadth of vintage style and this definitely, without a doubt, makes us smile! (Oh my, I’m a poet

Our summer hiatus is over and we are back! Our weekly Sunday blog post picks up today and lots of things have happened in July. Truthfully, we can’t check off several things on our to-do list, but we are here today to celebrate two triumphs.
1. We hit 100!
Whoop, whoop! We now have 100 white dinner plates in our inventory. If you want a clean, crisp palette with unique touch, we have a mix of white and cream china/stoneware patterns that will add a cool factor to your tables.
2. We went for gold!
We finally did it – got the gold spray paint out and transformed a few pieces. We’re going to hold off sharing all of our make-overs, but here’s one that’s like, Wow. Feature this stunner on your table to reflect a beautiful bouquet or use it as a gleaming sign. Many possibilities!
