Vintage Feature – Hues of Beautiful Blue Vintage Goblets

Southern Vintage Table Vintage China Rental NC

Recently we received photos from several events and, as we began to process them, we noticed a striking similarity. They all featured our vintage blue goblets. Interesting, right?

Other than being the team color of two local universities, are there other reasons why blue is chosen by many couples? We decided to look into the psychology of color to see if there may be a hidden meaning.

Bourn Creative, a design firm that uses color to convey messages and meaning, describes blue as this:

“Blue represents both the sky and the sea, and is associated with open spaces, freedom, intuition, imagination, expansiveness, inspiration, and sensitivity. Blue also represents meanings of depth, trust, loyalty, sincerity, wisdom, confidence, stability, faith, heaven, and intelligence.”

Ah-hah! Faith, trust, stability, sincerity – ingredients for a successful, happy wedding and marriage. Maybe it’s not just a pretty color; perhaps it’s the positive energy it brings for the couple’s new life ahead.

Southern Vintage Table’s current inventory includes over 200 goblets in different shades of blue – light blue, dusky blue, teal, aqua, turquoise, and cobalt blue.  The inspiration this color conveys is perfect for any wedding or event!

Southern Vintage Table Event – A Village of Vendors Meet at Forest Hall at Chatham Mills

Southern Vintage Table Vintage China Rental NC

Last Sunday we headed to an open house at Forest Hall at Chatham Mills in Pittsboro. Every facet of wedding vendors was present. From food, drink, and florals to music, photography, and rentals, professionals were ready and available to help guests with their wedding plans. These wondrous photos, courtesy of Morgan Caddell Photography, captured the moments just before the doors opened.

In addition to our business table, we set the tables at Forest Hall with our vintage white stoneware, blue & white dishes, flatware, glassware, and napkins. Centerpieces and decor were arranged by two talented floral vendors; farm tables- All In Bloom, and round tables – Barn of Chapel Hill. With both round cloth-covered and bare farm tables presented, folks could envision the versatility and beauty of this historic space.

Southern Vintage Table Events – Kacie & Greg’s Family-Style Reception

Southern Vintage Table Vintage China Rental NC

We are so excited to share photos from Kacie and Greg’s wedding last fall! Captured by Blended Light Photography, these stunning pictures tell the story of their beautiful wedding and reception at The Parlour at Mann’s Chapel.

With the dark wood of the farm tables as the backdrop, the couple selected our blue and white china mixed with white stoneware. Clear vintage water goblets, silver-plated flatware, and vintage white napkins completed each guest place setting. The result was romantic, timeless, and cozy – perfect for their family-style gathering.

Their guests were treated to a traditional Thanksgiving dinner prepared by City BBQ. With our vintage platters and bowls filled with turkey, salad, collard greens, and corn bread pudding, guests felt right at home serving themselves and passing down the scrumptious food.

Southern Vintage Table Events – The Eve Before the Wedding

Southern Vintage Table Vintage China Rental NC

We are reminiscing about our first client visit at the studio last year. Chris and Rebecca traveled from Virginia to see how our blue and white dishware might be featured at their rehearsal dinner in Edenton, Rebecca’s home town. The dinner, on the eve of their wedding, was to be held at the Historic 1767 Chowan Courthouse, a National Historic Landmark, and they wanted the look to complement this lovely space.

After chatting with them about their vision, a tablescape with blue and white dinner plates, silver-plated flatware and bold colored goblets came into focus. Simple bouquets in vintage milk glass vases and table numbers in vintage photo frames completed their look. Please enjoy their beautiful tables befitting this treasured historic landmark with these photographs taken by the very talented Katherine Miles Jones.

Vintage Adventures – Mountain Wedding Weekend

Whew! We’ve been on the road again this weekend and this time we headed to the beautiful mountains of Hendersonville. Our destination was the Kenmure Country Club and the vista was spectacular. The foliage was tinged with yellows and oranges, the cool autumn weather was refreshing, and the company couldn’t have been more perfect.

After loading the van to the hilt with place settings for 175 guests, Priscilla and I began our westward journey Thursday afternoon. Along the way we stopped for lunch at a restaurant that just so happened to be near a thrift store    and arrived, via the more scenic backroads, to Kenmure in the early evening.

The tables were all ready for us and we meticulously set them with our vintage plates and goblets. The head table donned our blue and white collection while the guest tables featured a more eclectic mix of patterns. These photos are missing the floral arrangements and soft candlelight so we’ll be sharing an updated gallery in the weeks to come. Can’t wait to see them!!

Following a restful night at a charming AirBnB home, we excitedly began exploring the thrift stores in the area. Over the course of three days, Priscilla and I browsed through 8 or so stores – some high end, some more junk, and all worth the time! What was our find of the weekend? A medley of  terrific vintage napkins – including ones with some groovy prints for our growing bohemian offerings – and a gorgeous set of china from Germany.

These last two weekends have shown us that traveling to destinations is a service we can happily accommodate, especially if it includes a day or two of exploration and delicious meals shared with a kindred soul! Thank you, Taylor and Priscilla, for two delightful back-to-back weekends!

Planning a wedding in the “beyond” region of our studio and want a vintage look? We may be able to help!

Vintage Adventures – On the Road to Richmond & Asheville

Southern Vintage Table is on the road this weekend and next – delivering our beautiful vintage tableware to weddings at Tuckahoe Plantation in Richmond and the Kenmure Country Club in Hendersonville.

Scouting out the trip via the backroads, this weekend’s drive up to Richmond was incredibly beautiful and relaxed – perfect temperature, gorgeous sunlight, and an easy drive. After our delivery, I met my daughter in Carytown for the weekend. Our AirBnB rental was a block away from this eclectic, fun area in Richmond and we found lots of restaurant choices and cute shops to browse. We had a grand time together – she even enjoyed going to one thrift store with me!

She’s now back on the train headed to DC and I’m getting ready to return to Tuckahoe to pickup and begin the beautiful drive home. What a lovely adventure with my sweet, amazing daughter!

PS – I’ll be adding a photo of Tuckahoe right here after I return home. This historic venue is the real deal – in fact, it was Thomas Jefferson’s boyhood home!

Southern Vintage Table Event – Soft Pastels Whisper Wedding Romance for Erica & Josh

Southern Vintage Table Vintage China Rental NC

Yes, we love deep rich colors but that doesn’t mean we don’t appreciate the sweet beauty of soft pastels. For Erica and Josh, their wedding color palette included pale blues, pinks, and white, and as you can see, our vintage floral china was a wonderful fit. Set in the historic Merrimon-Wynne home in Raleigh and coordinated by Amy Wurster of Knots ‘N Such, this wedding was pure romance.

In addition to the mixed and matched vintage china, we set the table with our vintage clear goblets, silver-plate flatware and trays, and votive candleholders. With our vintage napkins folded and tucked under the plates, each guest had his or her own unique place setting. We love this!
