Southern Vintage Table Events – The Joyful Wedding Day of Abbie & David

As a vendor who delivers vintage tableware before and returns after the wedding, oftentimes we don’t get to witness the celebration firsthand. Thankfully, however, we do get to experience the weddings through shared photographs. When we opened up Abbie and David’s album and scanned through Autumn Harrison’s incredible photographs, we were struck by the immense joy, love, and happiness portrayed in these images.

The ceremony and celebration was held at a beautiful, working farm in northern Orange County, Windy Hill. The caretakers take immense pride in their land and myriad of animals and, as good stewards, they offer their place to folks who appreciate nature and farming as much as they do. This charming, historic, and authentic venue was exactly what Abbie and David were seeking when they decided to get married here.

We hope you enjoy this brief look at their happy wedding day, with some really pretty photos of our sweet wildflower stoneware and colored goblets. 🙂 As you will see, Abbie and David’s vision was creative, fun, and perfect for this lovely venue. Also, we couldn’t resist sharing an incredible photo of pies – lots of pies – baked by East Durham Pie. They look amazing!

Congratulations, Abbie and David, and best wishes for a blissful and joyful life together!

Abby, thank you so much for this wonderful review on Wedding Wire! We truly enjoyed being part of your wedding day and loved working with your vision!

Shelly will bring your vision to life & make your tables look incredible!

Shelly is amazing! She has so many options for plates, glasses, and everything in between— she is so helpful in making your vision come to life, even if you’re not quite sure what it is you’re looking for. She was incredibly dependable and great to work with, and the table scapes she created for us matched our wedding vibe PERFECTLY. She provided colorful goblets, flower plates, napkins, flatware, mugs, dessert plates, and it all was wonderful! We loved working with her 🙂

Vintage Feature – Edwin M. Knowles China, a USA Company

Doesn’t this charming plate epitomize vintage? We first thought it was a cake plate because of the handles on each side, but we were wrong! It’s a classic art deco shape called Yorktown, created in 1938 by one of America’s most successful china company, The Edwin M. Knowles China Company.

The mark on the back shows the maker (The Edwin M. Knowles China Co.) and the shape name (Yorktown) but not the pattern, which is Tia Juana. According to the mark on the back , this pattern shape was first introduced November, 1937 (11-37). (Thanks, Harlan, for interpreting this for us!) Perhaps more interesting, though, it includes “Union Made in U.S.A.” to broadcast that the china was made by workers who were fairly paid and treated by their employer.

Looking through the extensive collection of pattern photos on Replacements, Inc., we soon realized we had several Knowles patterns that illustrate the breadth of patterns and shapes this once-thriving pottery company offered to its customers.

Edwin M. Knowles China Company began in 1900 in Chester, West Virginia. Over six decades, the company produced dinnerware considered to be of the highest quality, and their popularity and production increased over the next 60 years. The factory closed its doors in the early 1960s due to the influx of cheaper foreign imports – a common story for many US potteries.

Vintage Pink Place Setting

Southern Vintage Table Events – The Pink of Perfection!

Last May Carrie and I drove down to White Lake’s FFA Center to deliver 325 vintage pink-themed dinner plates for Madison and Paul’s reception. As we pulled in and saw the moss-covered trees, clear, calm water, and rustic pier and boardwalk, we knew this was going to be one beautiful, romantic celebration. Under the guidance of wedding planner extraordinaire, Gina Myers of La Cosa Bella Events, and captured by the talented Faith Teasley, the photos revealed that every detail was perfect as pink!

Thank you, Gina, for inviting us to help with the reception, and Faith, for sharing these amazing photos. And, of course, thank you, Madison and Paul, for giving us the opportunity to be a part of your wedding celebration. Best wishes for a wonderful, beautiful life together!

If we were to select one wedding style that we love the most, it would have to be bohemian chic. With the inspiration of nature and relaxed atmosphere, boho chic sparks romantic vibes in every direction! These photos by Mary Kaitlin Photography of Emily and Abraham’s wedding at the Little Herb House beautifully capture the essence of this timeless style.

This mod, romantic wedding had all the ingredients that melded so well together – Emily’s flowing wedding gown, Abraham’s classic suit, the soft earthy tones of the bridesmaids’ dresses, the macrame altar hanging, and our vintage place settings with amber goblets on wood farm tables. Add to that the tranquil setting of the Little Herb House‘s converted horse barn and beautiful gardens, and the result is perfection!

Southern Vintage Table Event – Jessica & Stephen’s Wedding Day

Jessica and Stephen
All Photos by Photography by Bellagala

Love is the most important thing in the world but baseball is pretty good – Yogi Berra

It was a beautiful June day – perfect for the artistic teacher and outdoorsy soon-to-be physical therapist to begin to their lives together as a married couple. College sweethearts, Jessica and Stephen, pledged their love for each other at the Trinity Avenue Presbyterian Church with friends and family in attendance, then we all skipped over to the Rickhouse to celebrate with this sweet couple.

This love-filled day was captured by Photography by Bellagala and we are so pleased to share their photos with you. As a friend of the family, we happily set the reception tables and arranged the vintage dessert stands for donuts, the couple’s favorite treat, before joining in the festivities.

Jessica and future sister-in-law, Melanie, designed these lovely, colorful tables. Notice the three vintage table designs – one with gold embellished plates and brown goblets, a second with blue & white plates and amber goblets, and the third with white stoneware and green goblets. With the beautiful floral centerpieces by Color Fields Farm and our brass candleholders topped with clear votives, the tables sparkled!

Southern Vintage Table Event – Meghan and Dru’s Carolina Blue Wedding

When Kast Events and Company contacted us to rent our vintage blue and white china for Meghan, we knew another gorgeous wedding design was in the works. Oftentimes we don’t know the details of the wedding vision but when the photographs arrive, we are awestruck.

So, when we viewed the gorgeous photos of Krystal Kast Photography from Megan and Dru’s wedding at The Barn of Chapel Hill, we were more than awed – we were dazzled! Adorned with the fresh, lush florals of Wild Flora Farm, the setting for their nuptials and celebration was magical!

News – Time for a Brief Blog Hiatus!

The hot, humid, summer weather of beautiful NC has settled in and, with the first of July arriving tomorrow, we’ll be taking this month off from our weekly blog. The opening to this year has been incredibly busy for Southern Vintage Table and during July we’ll be resting, reorganizing our new space a bit, but continuing with our rental services.

So far this year we have shared our vintage wares with 29 clients for their showers, luncheons, birthday parties, corporate celebrations, styled shoots, tea parties, and, of course, wedding receptions. (Photos by Ana Teresa Gailzes, Krista Piper, Kelley Deal, September Photos, Casie Weathers, Magnolia Photography, Stephanie Batten. )

We’re looking forward to the second half of 2019 and the many occasions our vintage treasures will be enjoyed! See you in August!
