Southern Vintage Table Events – We Are Featured in Southern Weddings Magazine – Twice!

Southern Weddings Magazine

We are SO excited and maybe even a little giddy!! This past spring we were invited to share some of our vintage treasures for two different features in this year’s Southern Weddings V9 magazine. For one shoot we supplied our three vintage punch bowls, punch cups, a pink enameled tub, and a milk glass compote. The second shoot we happily provided some of our most favorite patterns from our vintage dinnerware collection. That was May and we’ve been counting the months since.

November is here and we got word that the Southern Weddings V9 magazine was ready! We received a sneak preview of this beautiful publication and eagerly looked for our lovelies. We found our punch bowls and such in a gorgeous feature called “Chapel Charm” and then our china in the elegant “Greenbriar Getaway” article.  How thrilling to see how our pieces were incorporated into these two creative styled shoots and to find our name – Southern Vintage Table – in the vendor listing. Whoop, whoop!!

The official launch is this Thursday, November 10, so you’ll need to wait just a wee bit to get your copy of Southern Weddings V9 and for us to reveal more from these two articles. We soooo look forward to sharing them with you!

Southern Vintage Table Events – Vintage Milk Glass Centerpieces

We have some pretty photographs to share today from Brian and Heidi’s June wedding, courtesy of KM Photography.  Filled with gorgeous flowers from Fernrock Farm, a local flower grower, a trio of our milk glass vases and compotes took center stage on each of their reception tables. How beautiful is this?

Southern Vintage Table Events – Rustic, Eclectic, & Oh-So Romantic

Photo by Theo Milo Photography” Aye, by that kiss, I vow an endless bliss.”
~ John Keats via Brainy Quotes

Yay!  We have more wedding photos to share today!  Courtesy of Theo Milo Photography, today’s post features these exquisite photos from Melanie and Holden’s July wedding at Rigmor House in Chapel Hill. This rural rustic venue was a terrific match for our vintage ware and the couple’s whimsical, romantic theme.

As guests entered the reception area they were greeted with this fabulous display. Using the window frames as a backdrop for the dessert table was an ingenious design and we absolutely loved how it put the spotlight on their gorgeous wedding cake created by Irregardless Cafe. Don’t you agree that our vintage garden cart, filled with favors for the wedding guests, is just the perfect final touch?

Inside the venue the reception tables were set with a mixed medley of our vintage china patterns.  We really enjoyed seeing them with our sparkling, vibrant goblets and Melanie’s colorful floral napkins. The rich blend of patterns, hues, and textures created a lovely, organic, and romantic vibe.

We had a wonderful experience with Shelly at Southern Vintage Table and we would HIGHLY recommend them for your event! Shelly was extremely kind, responsive and professional. She remained very flexible and patient with me (I changed my mind several times about what to order!). The vintage dishes and decor looked amazing at our reception! Everyone raved about how beautifully it all came together! They have a wide selection to choose from and the prices are very reasonable for the quality of service!

Vintage Feature – Join Us On Instagram!

Southern Vintage Table Vintage China Rental NC“So, are you on Instagram?” she asked.
“No,” I replied, “but we’re on Facebook and Pinterest.”
“Oh, if you were on Instagram you could see how the tables turned out.”
“Dang,” I’m thinking. “Do we really want another social media account to manage?”
The answer turns out to be, “Yes, indeed we do!”

That was one year ago when a wedding planner explained that she would be posting photos of our vintage centerpieces on her Instagram account. We really, really wanted to see how they turned out so that night we did it – we opened up an account. It didn’t take long to understand why folks love this mobile social media app.

Instagram may be our favorite way to share our wares and see what others are doing. We still appreciate our connections through Facebook and Pinterest, but we absolutely love that Instagram is all about photos. For a visual business like ours, when we post our recent find or photos from an event, the post is fed to all of our followers. They get to see what we are doing and, in turn, we get to see what’s new with all the folks we are following.  With the hashtag feature, users can search for photos on a topic or trend (like #vintageblueandwhite) and connect with us and others who have used this hashtag to describe their photo. It’s quick, uncluttered, and a visual treat. And, did we mention fun?

Blue and White Screen Shot

After one year, we are happily posting and sharing photos, making new connections, and visually exploring the world through others’ experiences. We would love to bring you along. Follow us on Instagram (@southernvintagetable2) and if you don’t yet have an account, consider joining the Instagram community.

We have to warn you up front – it’s addicting. No joke –  you’ll find yourself checking for “likes” on your posts, looking through your feed, and searching hashtags for things you love – like #pugs or #succulents or #foodogs  or even a place, like #ncmountains – and you’re hooked. A good thing, however, is if you are looking for an inspiration, waiting for an appointment, or drinking your first cup of coffee in the morning, you have Instagram to fill that time in such a delightful way!

Here are couple of things you should know before you sign up. Instagram is meant to be a mobile app which means you take photos from your phone and upload them from your phone. On a laptop you can create and view your account, edit your descriptions, “like” others posts, and do searches but you cannot upload photos. There probably are ways around all of that but the notion of “instant-ness” is its intent. Another cool feature is that you easily can share your IG posts to your Facebook so your FB friends don’t miss out on that cool thing you just did or saw.

Lastly, you can make your account private which means only folks you have invited can view your photos but you still can view accounts that are public. In other words, you can look through the Instagram window without opening your Instagram door!

For those who may not be ready to take the leap, we now have our Instagram feed coming in our home page and we also placed it below for you to get a quick look. Listen to Eleanor and jump in!

Do one thing every day that scares you.”
-Eleanor Roosevelt (verybestquotes.com)

(Please note that we are not @southernvintagetable as you might think. We stumbled at first and created this account but couldn’t figure out how to delete it so we became @southernvintagetable2. We are still working on how to get rid of the first one!)

Vintage Feature – This Week’s A-ha Moment

Savor your aha moment

Sometimes it just happens, sometimes it takes time, and sometimes you have to work at it. I’m talking about that magical a-ha moment.  Maybe it’s as simple as remembering where you left your keys (haha, I experience this a-ha moment several times each week) or finally figuring out something that just takes time and mental energy. The latter happened this week as I was updating our website.

The exasperating thing I finally figured out was how to insert a table on a page and then add photos in the cells. I tried to make this work months ago and, after spending days on it, I finally gave up and figured out how to create slideshows. I knew I would try to tackle this again and this week, with fresh eyes, I looked at it once more. I tried a couple of plug-ins that didn’t work well, and then I returned to the toolbar’s table tab and fiddled with it. Voila, it came to me!  And, the crazy thing was the solution was right there all along. Isn’t this how it oftentimes happens?

After finally registering that “yes, it did work,”  I savored this long-awaited a-ha moment for just a moment longer and began to realize how much this was going to change the style of the website. I dug in and began revamping our inventory pages. This was my focus all week – setting up tables, finding and resizing images, taking more photos, redoing the header menu, and so forth.  I still have more to do but I am really pleased with the progress.

As an example, here’s the table from the Vintage Collections page. I hope you’ll agree it is visually pleasing and easier to view our extensive vintage collections!

Inspired. Appreciative. Thank YouWe have been delighted to take part in many events so far this year!  These past few months our vintage treasures have traveled to weddings, showers, styled shoots, wedding shows, and dinner parties in Chapel Hill, Durham, Pittsboro, Raleigh, Louisburg, Winston Salem, Virginia, and even West Virginia.  Sweet!

Even sweeter, though, are the four brides who recently posted these lovely comments on Wedding Wire.  We are oh-so pleased and humbled to share them with you today.

Vintage Feature – Our First Pinterest Board “Wish List” Order!

Southern Vintage Table
These are just some of the vintage lovelies used in our three events this week!

In spite of the rainy weather here in NC we’ve had a productive week at Southern Vintage Table. First, our china was picked up for a shoot designed by Southern Weddings at a lovely West Virginia venue. More will be coming on this, for sure. Then, we received two new orders for the week – one for a wedding and one for a bridal shower. And, as a final very bright spot to the week, we were asked to help with the wedding of a dear friend whose daughter is getting married next June. We do love being busy!

We are very excited, of course, to help with each of these events but two things made the bridal shower a pretty special request. Not only were we thrilled to work with Maria again – we helped with her wedding two years ago – but she became our first client to create a Pinterest board wish list for the items she wanted from our inventory. Yay!

We shared this planning idea in a recent post, “Vintage Tip – Collaborate with Us to Create a Wish List, and it worked great. Maria created a board for the shower, pinned items from our inventory, and added notes to the pins.  The part about adding the notes was Maria’s brilliant touch, and we appreciate this tweak to the process.  We easily provided a quote and started packing. As we said before, it’s easy, peezy and we look forward to collaborating with you!

Thought we’d end today’s post with one of our favorite photos of Maria & Jonathan’s reception tables.  Don’t you love those vintage goblets?  See more from this beautiful wedding here!

Southern Vintage Table Event – Three Terrific Takeaways from Rose Hill Styled Shoot

Rose Hill Styled Shoot by Events by Memory Lane

Recently I received the most exciting invitation!  Stacy Newburg, event planner and owner of Events by Memory Lane, was organizing her first styled shoot and asked if we would like to participate. Recalling our wonderful collaboration at Anna & Anthony’s wedding last summer, I said “yes!” and that was even before she revealed her blue & white vintage Southern elegant theme, a look I absolutely love.

After selecting the vintage table settings, linens, and decor pieces together one afternoon, Stacy then invited me to help on the day of the shoot. Intrigued to see the behind-the-scenes of a photo shoot, I just couldn’t pass this up. Even though we have provided items for many styled shoots and have appreciated the beautiful photographs from them, I haven’t actually seen the entire process  at work and this was my chance!

Well, let me say, the day of the styled shoot was busy, busy, busy, and pretty darn awesome!  The weather was gorgeous at this breathtaking historic venue, the vendors organized, models dressed and styled, and photographers on the go. Stacy planned everything, from the table settings to the boutonnieres to the enthusiastic and beautiful models. Breakfast and lunch were served, and a detailed plan set for all to follow. It was quite impressive to see the day play out.

Here are three takeaways from this marvelous day!

One – It requires a lot of coordination to pull off a styled shoot. As you can appreciate below, a full lineup of vendors is needed to create a mockup wedding day. Many, many kudos to Stacy for selecting such a terrific group of wedding professionals, and for her passion and joy.

Two It’s all in the details. The teamwork of Stacy and Tiffany was phenomenal.  When the professional photos are ready, you’ll see exactly what I mean!

Three – Being a professional photographer takes technical skill, an artistic eye, and endless energy. As I watched Tiffany and Aaron throughout the day, they were busy practically the entire time, taking photos of every tiny detail, encouraging and prompting the models on every shot, and making absolutely certain they captured that perfect photo. Although I have long appreciated the fine work of professional photographers, seeing these two in action took my admiration to an even higher level.

More photos coming soon! I want to sincerely thank everyone who took part in this day. I loved meeting each and every one of you and look forward to the next time we meet!

Southern Vintage Table Event – Vibrant, Vivid, & Vintage Dinner Party

Southern Vintage Table Vintage China Rental NC

We totally love setting the tables for big family events like weddings and family reunions, but we are also absolutely delighted to help with intimate celebrations.  These smaller gatherings allow us the opportunity to showcase some of our speciality china and decor collections. And, this past weekend we were so pleased to set the table for a festive dinner party.

Our client was hosting a wine and dinner party featuring Spanish wines and dishes. Her vision included vivid spring colors of pinks and greens and we knew our lovely hand-painted pieces from Blue Ridge Pottery and Stetson China would be the perfect fit. Paired with our vintage printed tablecloth, these bold, vibrant patterns from the 1940s-1960s set the perfect mood for her guests. Our table creation was vibrant and stunning, ready for a fun evening with delicious food and Spanish wine tastings!
