Planning Vintage Tablescapes

Scenes from SVT – Our Clients Adore Vintage!

It’s true! Our visitors are kindred spirits when it come to appreciating the beautify of vintage tableware and everything else. Some have shared that they feel at home amongst all of our treasures. Their enthusiasm for our collections makes our hearts sing!

Today we’d like to introduce you to a delightful cadre of visitors and their creative vintage tablescapes. First up is Allie and Cameron – these two sweethearts who met in 4th grade are getting ready for their November wedding. They didn’t date until after college, but their shared childhood memories played an important role in their finding each other again.

This mother/daughters’ meeting was really fun! Although deliberation is continuing, Camille is considering different vintage colored-themed tables for her July wedding. Her sister Renee also started looking at possibilities for her September wedding. It’s going to be a busy few months for this family!

Cleveland and Lauren are making final plans for their November wedding. With her mother’s help, their design includes florals, colored goblets, and possibly peg votives on brass candleholders. We truly enjoyed meeting these folks!

We are so excited about Helen and Christian’s wedding scheduled for next year. Helen’s mother has a unique collection of vintage kitchen tablecloths that will be used as toppers for the tables. Here are three examples – mostly purples/pinks, blues/pinks, and yellow/greens. This is going to be totally fun!

Macie and Byron’s wedding is coming up this September. It’s an intimate affair with lots of color and special touches. They will be using colored Whitehall glasses paired with a colored wine glass. Initially, they set the table with two looks – one side with browns and the other with white stoneware. The final decision is to use vintage white stoneware with the colored pair of vintage goblets. It’s going to be a treat for their guests!

We’ve had the immense pleasure to meet Rebecca who owns Events by Rebs. Vivacious, super friendly, and full of energy, she planned a styled shoot at The Honeysuckle Teahouse using our vintage wares. We chose vintage kitchen tablecloths, a mix of complementary plates, napkins, tumblers, flatware, and natural chargers. Vintage suitcases, lanterns, and an assortment of other vintage decor also went out the door for this special shoot.

Six visitors with their own vintage flair and all personal to them. Looking forward to helping you with your wedding and seeing photos from the Rebs’ photo shoot!

Happily Desserted

Don’t we all love to admire a beautifully crafted traditional tiered wedding cake? For us, it may be the highlight of the wedding reception! Nowadays, cakes are typically smaller with fewer layers and are accompanied by a menagerie of sweet treats for the guests.

Today’s post features the many different ways cakes and treats have been displayed using our vintage cake stands and other vintage items. The first set of photos showcase our vintage wooden, colored glass, milk glass and clear glass stands. The assortment of cakes look so yummy on them!

Now for the nontraditional ways to display a cake and treats! Handcrafted wooden boxes, upside-down baskets and wooden bowls, stacked vintage suitcases, vintage metal tins, and a vintage record player have been used to display the wedding cake and other treats. The personalities of the clients often are portrayed in their design!

Vintage Wedding Tablescape with Purple Goblets

Southern Vintage Table Events – A Vintage Purple Wedding

Let us introduce you to two lovely women, Kat and Larson. They met in college and fell in love. Last month, they declared their eternal devotion in a beautiful ceremony at The Honeysuckle Tea House in Chapel Hill.

Purple paired with green was a must in their tablescape design. These vintage goblets gleam on the tables and coordinate beautifully with their floral centerpieces. They selected these along with a mix of vintage plates with purple and green florals and white stoneware, salad plates, stainless flatware, a silver-plate tray for the florals, and bird figurines. (We loved this special touch!) Patterned and solid green napkins completed the place settings. A white easel and tiered glass plate were their final choices.

Bravo, Kat and Larson! Your wedding day was just as beautiful and sweet as you two! Congratulations for finding your perfect partner and wishing you all the best!

Thank you for using our services and for this amazing review. We are humbled by your kind words.

Southern Vintage Table Event – An Intimate Vintage Wedding

Molly and Ben’s intimate vintage wedding was exactly what they wanted. Held at the beautiful Parlour at Manns Chapel, they shared one of their most important days with the folks dearest to them, their family.

The beautiful china pattern at the place settings is Grammy’s vintage Spode. What a sweet touch! We helped complete the settings with our vintage gold plated flatware, pink goblets, and dessert plates. Our vintage pink candleholders added one more lovely element to the tablescape. The final look is just what Molly envisioned – springtime elegance.

Our vintage pink coupes complemented this lovely look as seen below. We also provided vintage pink tumblers, clear goblets, and light blue goblets.

Congratulations, Molly and Ben! Your intimate wedding was magical, romantic, and totally you!

Shelly spent so much time helping us choose the perfect table settings for our small wedding! She has such an amazing collection of glasses, plates, candleholders, you name it. Reasonable prices, exceptional service, and happy to support small women-owned business!

PPS – Molly was a star student and athlete at the middle school where I taught. Although I didn’t have the pleasure of having her as a student, I did teach her twin brother, who was delightful! Their mother was an A+ parent who actively supported the teachers and school.

Scenes from SVT – The Beauty of Vintage Colored Glass

We finally did it! The beautiful vintage colored glass pieces are now all lit up! Without an outlet close by, the former location just didn’t work. Now, they dazzle under the lights. This transformation has been on the to-do list for at least a year and, with Sarah’s help, we’ve crossed this one off.

This isn’t all we’ve been working on but those projects aren’t ready for their reveal. Stay tuned!

Vintage Teacups

Features – A Tea for the Mitford Museum

“Mitford is not just a place to live, it’s a place that lives within us.” – Jan Karon (Bookeye)

It was our second trip to Hudson, NC to help with an annual fundraising tea at The Hub Station which houses the Mitford Museum. Many folks will recognize the fictional town of Mitford, aka Hudson, as it was the center of a series of 14 popular novels written by Jan Karon.

This annual tea, set to benefit “the museum’s plans to develop StoryLab, a facility that will house our oral history library, traveling exhibitions, and a creator’s space for youth,” was set for 140 guests. After days of preparation, we packed vintage teacups, teapots, sugar and creamers, luncheon plates, flatware, goblets, and platters.

After unpacking our very full van, we wandered around this historical gem, taking photos along the way. Once a public school, the town has created an art center for the community. Along with the Mitford Museum, a tribute to Jan’s fictional town, there’s local artwork donning the walls and in a shop known as The Red Awning Gallery featuring local artists creations, Three Doors Down which is a really cute bar, Junk Gypsy Angel Boutique, and Happy Endings Bookstore. Upstairs is where the magic happens – artists’ studios, art classrooms, a fiber art center, a performing arts studio, and a music studio. There’s even a cool space called “Creations after Midnight Studio.”

To find out more about the museum and hometown author Jan Karon, watch this video, “Learn About Best-Selling Author Jan Karon at the Mitford Museum | NC Weekend | PBS North Carolina.”

We look forward to hearing how everything went when we return to Hudson on Tuesday. Hope your week is filled with many happy moments!

Vintage Wedding Reception

Southern Vintage Table Events – A Wedding in a Majestic Chateau

Hidden away in the small community of Barclayville, is a grand home – a majestic, old world-style chateau. Once known as Barclay Villa, the Chateau des Fleures is an impressive venue that’s the perfect backdrop for a storybook wedding.

Gabrielle and David’s wedding marked the beginning of the new year for us. As you can see, the beauty of the chateau is amazing, but there were details that these two also brought to create a unique, personal wedding reception. Notice the small trees in the center – these original pieces were crafted from metal by a family friend. Aren’t they marvelous? With their beautiful iridescence and our vintage colored goblets and place settings, the tables glowed with color.

Bravo, Gabi and David! We loved working with you two and wish you the best of everything! And, by the way, you win the prize for the best couple photo ever!

Clear Peg Votives on Brass Header

Features – The Elegance of Candlelight in Vintage Peg Votives

Romance, intimacy, and magical joy – feelings evoked by the beauty of candlelight, deeming it as an essential detail for any wedding reception table. Whether you use tapers or votives, the soft glow creates the ambience every couple wants for their wedding day.

At many venues, open flames are not allowed; therefore, tapers must be enclosed with a glass chimney. Votives, because they are inside a glass votive holder, are allowed and sit low on the table. Together, they provide a beautiful, soft light, high and low.

Did you know there’s a third way to have candle light using candleholders and peg votives? Peg votives have a “peg” that sits inside the candleholder. Pop in a tea light, light the wick, and that magical mood is kindled.

We’ve been pulling brass candleholders and clear peg votives for an upcoming wedding. The couple will be lighting 95 of these on their reception tables. Surely, everyone will be enjoying a most memorable evening in their glow!

In addition to clear votives, vibrance can be added with colored glass votives, as you can see here. How beautiful they are!

Psst – Here’s a behind-the-scenes photo of Sarah getting the candleholders and peg votives ready to pack. She’s almost finished!
