It’s almost been 2 months since Amy and I first got the keys to our studio and we are getting so, so close! The sign is on the window, more shelves filled, inventory shuffled, Amy’s shelves and flower cooler are in, and – the most exciting news for SVT – the commercial dish machine is being installed tomorrow! Whoop, whoop!
Here’s the day we got the keys….
… and here’s today!
We are working from our new space and meeting with clients as we continue to move in. Please let us know if you’d like to come by and we’ll schedule a time to meet!
The next update will be our last when everything is in place!
PS – Brainstorming with the Yayas is always fruitful. Thanks for the “Studio 238” combo name – we love it!
Photographer AJ Dunlap put it perfectly. “IT’S UP, IT’S UP, IT’S UP!!!!!!!!,” she emailed to all of us, meaning that Olivia and Joseph’s wedding is now on the prestigious wedding blog, Green Wedding Shoes. The feature, “A Vintage Wedding with Meaningful Details,” showcases this beautiful occasion and we can’t be more excited!
Be sure to take a moment to enjoy this lovely article – you’ll fall in love with this sweet couple as all of us have! And, definitely watch the video at the end – it’s amazing!
(PS – note the vendor listing, too. We just love seeing our name among these incredible wedding professionals!)
We really enjoy helping with photo shoots and when Danielle of DHS Photography invited us to help with one showcasing a new venue, we happily agreed. Carrollock Farms, with a rich NC farming history, has beautiful pastures with cows and seasonal crops. Hosting your event here will give you a true feeling of being in the country.
Be sure to check out this beautiful country venue in Willow Spring, NC. Thank you, DHS Photography, for sharing these wonderful photos! And, to all mothers and mothers-to-be…
Oh my goodness, it has been an incredible week! My aching muscles and feet are a testament to the progress we have made on our studio move. Look at these shelves, filled with our vintage treasures and wares. No longer crammed in crates or drawers, they now are easily admired and seen!
There’s still more to do to get our new studio ready but we are making progress every day. We even greeted three clients this week. Gotta run – my car is loaded up and ready to go!
Scones with jam and lemon curd, cucumber sandwiches, and chocolate-covered strawberries – sounds like a tea party, right? Well, almost. These delicious treats need to be presented properly to your guests, and yes, that means pretty vintage tiered stands.
This week we have been preparing for a reception tea party to be held in Asheville next weekend for a very special bride, Jess. Her mother wants everything to be tea-party-perfect so we’ve been assembling and making tiered stands for each table. So far we have 11 ready with only 4 left to prepare and assemble.
One of our older posts, “Make Your Own Tiered Stand,” has tips for making a tiered stand and the basics are the same. If you drilling into hard porcelain, we have a new tip to add – use a diamond-coated drill bit. Two biggies while using this bit – the drill bit needs to be constantly bathed in water and you only need slight pressure on the plate as it grinds the porcelain down. A second tip is to position the drill bit at an angle to start an indentation in the porcelain. Otherwise, the bit jumps around and it’s difficult to get it to stay put. After you get a nice quarter moon-shaped groove, you then can begin to move the drill slowly to its 90-degree angle and continue grinding through the plate. Patience and arm power also are needed!
Once finished with your three plates, put them together with the hardware, get the scones in the oven, and start cutting those cucumbers! Of course, we are more than happy to provide these vintage tiered stands along with the other teatime essentials. Mark the date on your calendar for your tea party and give us a call!
It was a beautiful NC October afternoon when Olivia, Joseph, and I first met on the outside patio of a Raleigh coffee shop. I took notes during our conversation in so far as their wedding vision and, while those details have since faded, what I distinctly remember is how I felt during our meeting. What endures is my memory of their genuineness, kindness, and warmth. I knew that day this was going to be an extraordinary wedding for everyone – family, friends, guests, vendors, and especially, this lovely couple.
Fast forward to their January wedding day at the Cloth Mill in Hillsborough. With friends Priscilla and Jami, we meticulously set the tables for their 200+ guests. In planning for this day, I went into teacher-mode – carefully matching dinner and salad plates, organizing them by their table numbers, selecting a coordinating colored goblet, and finally organizing it all into a nice, neat spreadsheet. (Indeed, I was super proud of myself!)
So, within hours, our tables were ready for the Greenhouse Picker Sisters and Bowerbird Flowers to add their centerpiece magic. I think you’ll agree, the end result was magnificent! These photos, courtesy of AJ Dunlap Photography, for the most part showcase our vintage wares but trust us, the rest are just as wonderful!

Thank you, Olivia and Joseph, for giving us so much joy being a part of your wedding day. Your love and happiness were beautiful to behold!
Joseph said… The china and goblets from Southern Vintage Table made our wedding reception! Everything was absolutely beautiful and Shelly did the most amazing job at pairing everything together. Shelly was there the day of the wedding meticulously matching up plates and setting out goblets and we couldn’t have been happier. Shelly was the sweetest vendor that we had and we immediately had a connection – she took the time to listen to what we wanted and was so intentional about getting to know us and what we wanted in our wedding. She was super responsive to emails and always followed up with us. We got so many compliments on our plates and how our tables looked because of the china and goblets. If I was getting married again, I would absolutely, without a doubt, use Southern Vintage Table again. You can tell that Shelly loves what she does and her main goal is to make the bride and groom happy.

Vintage has been trending for some time now and we think it’s here to stay. Reasons why? It’s extremely versatile – from elegant to rustic and everything between. Ready to embrace vintage for your occasion? By no means are these the only vintage styles to consider but here are 5 to get you started.
1 – Vintage Elegant Style – Elegant can be elaborate or simple, but most will incorporate florals, gold or silver touches, on a creamy or white background. A mix of silver-plated flatware accompanies elegant place settings beautifully along with vintage goblets, either colored or clear.

2 – Vintage Blue and White Style – This is a classic look everyone loves. The dark blue against white is striking and anchors the place settings on the table. You can dress it up with silver-plated flatware or keep it more casual with an eclectic mix of stainless. Slip in some vintage bakelite pieces with the stainless to add even more interest. Depending on your color scheme, add either colored or clear goblets.

3 – Vintage White Style – White is crisp, clean, and ready to dress up with colored napkins, goblets, tablecloths, or be placed on a bare farm table. This is the perfect choice if you want basic white but also are looking for something more than identical place settings. Add either silver-plated or stainless flatware, perhaps even with a mix of bakelite pieces. Keep it clean with clear goblets or make it pop with an array of colored goblets.

4 – Bold MidCentury Style – Thinking about a boho or bold look? This style of vintage dinnerware is the ticket. The colors range from orange/yellow/brown range to blue/green with geometric, bold designs. Matching colored goblets give each place setting a put-together look. Add casual napkins and stainless or silver plated flatware with perhaps a mix of bakelite and you have a colorful, fun table for your guests.

5 – Vintage Stoneware Style – The 80s come alive with this variety of floral dinner plates. Having a rustic, barn, and outdoor wedding or event? Consider incorporating these quaint designs and see how these similar yet different patterns lined up on the table is truly delightful! Stainless flatware, possibly mixed with some bakelite pieces, along with colored goblets, especially amber, green and brown, are the perfect complement for this casual, hip look.

Two for one! Can’t get enough of a good thing! Our cup runneth over! All of these cliches are perfect for last September’s bohemian photo shoot at 1870 Farm, designed by HoneyBee Mine Events. Here’s the scoop – two terrifically talented photographers were part of the shoot – DHS Photography and Red Bridge Photography. Both of them submitted their photos to separate wedding blogs and both of them got published! How wonderful is that?
Last week Rebecca got the fantastic news that we are now up on the prestigious wedding magazine, Love Inc, in the feature, “Bright Bohemian Rustic Wedding Inspiration from North Carolina.” Because there are soooo many glorious shots, we are sharing just a few of our favorites from Red Bridge Photography that you won’t find on Love Inc . The article portrays the entire photo shoot story so be sure to treat yourself! (Pssst – the gallery closes with a fun, amazing shot that you don’t want to miss!)
Thanks again to this terrific team of professionals!
Starting the new year with exciting news about our 2nd print magazine feature! We took part in a beautifully styled shoot last spring that we described in our blog post, Three Terrific Takeaways from Rose Hill Styled Shoot. We all felt the shoot was something pretty special and Southern Bride Magazine agrees! The shoot can be found in the Winter/Spring 2017 edition under”Poised and Polished” (page 104), and it looks fabulous!
