Celebrating a birthday with friends is always wonderful and when you add a tea party to the mix, the occasion transforms into a chic affair! This occasion was orchestrated by Curtis of The Rocky Face Tavern in Canton for his client and we were delighted to share our vintage tea collection with them.
After several emails with Curt, we prepared the order – for each guest there was a vintage teacup, small plate, and silver-plated flatware. For each table, we included a tiered stand, two teapots, sugar and creamer, compotes for jam and curd, and a lemon dish. Assorted serving flatware, including tiny spoons and sugar tongs, were packed.
Pieces were grouped by colors – green, pink, light blue, maroon, yellow, and blue/white – so each table had a unique look. To help the venue with the setup, we took photos of each theme and then organized them in the racks and crates accordingly.
Curt shared that it was a grand success! From looking at his photos, you can see that guests arrived in style with hats and gloves, ready for an afternoon tea with friends. Looking forward to working with you again, Curt!
It was one of the most perfect days in October. Cooler temperatures, sunny skies, and friends and family gathered together to celebrate the nuptials of Nina and Matt at the amazing Chapel Hill Carriage House. Photographed by Wendy Jade Photography, this day will be sweet memories for many folks for many years!
Nina and Matt chose the soft, sweet colors of pink and green for their reception tables and they do look especially pretty. The vintage floral plates were carefully chosen for each table to coordinate with the vintage goblets days before the wedding day. (Photos of this day with Nina, Denise, and mom at the studio are near the end.) After this gallery, you can see these eight unique vintage plates on a table and the final look is divine!
Picking out plates for your wedding day is a lot of fun!
Congratulations, you two! We were delighted to have our vintage plates and goblets at your perfect wedding day. Along with your family and friends, we have delightful memories of our time together! Best wishes for many joyful, fun days ahead! (We love this photo!)
We are so grateful for this marvelous Wedding Wire review!
Wonderful Dishware from Shelly!
We rented dinner plates, dessert plates, coffee cups, and water goblets from Shelly for our wedding on October 22,2022. The plates she has available are so unique and beautiful, and my mom, mom’s best friend, and I had so much fun going and picking them all out. I had a very specific vision so Shelly let us come and pick out the plates for each table setting. Every time you go back to the stacks you find a new, beautiful plate to add into the selection! Shelly is really nice, and she handled dropping off, picking up, and cleaning all of the dishware before and after the event. Her selection of vintage plates is amazing and her customer service is as well! I highly recommend Southern Vintage Table for weddings and any other events where you might want an elegant looking table!
Today we are celebrating the wedding of Sterling and Leo. Held in Sterling’s home town of Hillsborough at the family home, this chic boho affair was truly resplendent.
Our part in their celebration was providing our colorful vintage goblets seen sprinkled on the reception tables. The dessert table, filled with the some of the most delicious treats we’ve ever seen, baked by Kim’s Bake Shop, featured our colored glass cake stands and platters. You can also get a glimpse of the carefully curated selection of our eclectic vintage dessert plates.
Typically, we only showcase photos of our own wares, and you can see our vintage goblets on the tables, but we mostly chose this photo gallery from Klose Up Photography because they exude love and friendship. Family and friends were truly jubilant as these two pledged their love and allegiance to one another.
Wow, Sterling and Leo – what a fun, joyful, and beautiful party! After spending just a little time with you two, we knew each of you had found your truest love. Best wishes on your journey together!
We want to mention that Sterling and Leo choose many local Hillsborough vendors and we truly thank them for that! Here’s a photo of them at our studio selecting the goblets for both their rehearsal dinner and reception. Aren’t they adorable?
Yellow – the happiest of all colors – became the center theme for a cheerful, charming wedding at Forest Hall at Chatham Mills. Ashlan and Joey’s wedding day was last spring, one of our first weddings this year, and seeing these photos taken by Ally & Bobby Photography makes US so happy!
If we were to describe our tablesetting style, it certainly wouldn’t be minimalistic. We’d have a main floral centerpiece with a few petite florals, candles, petite art frames, porcelain birds, etc. However, we absolutely adore the fresh, simplicity of Ashlan and Joey’s centerpieces with our vintage amber goblets and gold flatware. And, with the greenery and sprigs of yellow flowers, their tables are exquisite!
Bravo, Ashlan and Joey, for creating such a beautiful, memorable day for you, your family, and friends. Wishing you a long, happy, fun-filled life together!
PS – Your review on Wedding Wire is simply wonderful! Thank you.
Beautiful Vintage Table Rentals! We are so happy that we found Southern Vintage Table for our wedding rentals! We rented our glasses, plates, and flatware through them and each piece was beautiful, unique, and in perfect condition. Shelly was so easy and enjoyable to work with and handled all of the logistics with our venue so that we didn’t have to worry about a thing! – Ashlan, Wedding Wire
Have we mentioned that we love what we do? There are many reasons to be grateful but perhaps at the top of the list are the wonderful folks we meet. From vendors to clients, the wedding industry is filled with people who are gracious, kind, and joyful.
Kate and Jonathan embody these traits. We really enjoyed meeting them and being present as they created their own vintage magic with our vintage tableware. As you view these gorgeous photos by Halifax Hill Studios, you’ll see our vintage dinner plates, goblets, napkins, and silver-plate flatware on their pretty reception tables, but the photos we loved most are the ones with Kate and Jonathan. What a sweet, adoring couple!
Thank you, Kate and Jonathan, for inviting us to help with your wedding. Sending you two wishes of enduring love, happiness, and glee!
Thank you also for this marvelous review on Wedding Wire!
We were going for a 1930s feel and Shelly at Southern Vintage Table turned that vision into reality. Bonus: rentals were not only unique, they fit our budget better than the large event rental companies we considered! Shelly gave us time and space to explore her incredible collection and experiment with table designs in person, and lent her expertise as well. We love the mismatched settings we ended up with and our guests had so much fun comparing beautiful plates. Our water goblet rentals from Shelly added the pop of color we needed at our reception. It wouldn’t have been the same without Southern Vintage Table! 10/10 would recommend!
Talk about details! Halie and Chandler’s sweet spring wedding, held at the Women’s Club of Portsmouth in Virginia and photographed by Ryann Winn Photography, was a happy occasion for everyone. From butterfly releases to gelato to a Pittsburg Wedding Cookie Table, this wedding was full of fun surprises.
Spring colors of green, blue, and pink were chosen as the theme of their wedding and our vintage delicate floral plates fit perfectly. With vintage green, pink, and blue goblets, vintage silver-plated flatware, and a vintage teacup and saucer, each place setting expressed that this wedding was indeed a special day.
Now, you might think the teacups are for tea or coffee but you would be incorrect! Guests were invited to fill them with yummy gelato from the gelato cart. How cool is that?
But, that was not the only dessert! Take a look at the cake stands filled with many varieties of cookies from Terri Negil Terry’s Tantalizing Treats. This display is a tradition known as a Pittsburgh Wedding Cookie Table. This “sweet” tradition, is new to us, and maybe you, too, so here’s a brief description from History of Wedding Cookie Table.
“Rooted deep in the history of Western Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Eastern Ohio lies the beloved cookie table. To the folks in these parts of the country, a wedding without a Cookie Table is like having a wedding without the Bride and Groom – pointless! The Wedding Cookie Table has strong ethnic and religious ties, linked mainly to European immigrants of Catholic descent – particularly present in industrial areas that housed Italians, Greeks, and other Europeans.
Although the beginning of the Cookie Table is debatable, it is believed that this sweet sensation has been around since the Great Depression. It has been implied that the Cookie Table grew in popularity during this time because it offset the cost of purchasing a wedding cake, due in large part to the family and friends who baked for the wedding.”
One more unique took place after Harlie and Chandler said their vows. Symbolizing a new beginning filled with love, butterflies were released by the couple and guests. How wonderful!
Finally, we want to thank Shannon and Madison, Harlie’s mother and sister, for making the trek from Virginia to our Hillsborough studio for both the pickup and return. We recognize this took time and effort and we are most appreciative. They also presented us with many lovely pieces to add to our inventory. What a sweet gesture!
Best wishes to you two, Harlie and Chandler. Along with the butterflies, we wish you hope, love, and a wonderful life together.
Can one feel gorgeousness? While gazing at these photos taken by photographer Annie Timmons of Maddie and James’ wedding, we instantly felt happiness, pleasure, and, yes, gorgeousness. The lovely spring colors found in the vintage goblets, Folie a Deux Events florals, and candlesticks coalesced into a dreamy, wondrous wedding and reception at the beautifully restored historic venue, The Parlour at Manns Chapel.
On these lovely reception tables are our vintage stoneware plates, an array of vintage pastel goblets, and silver-plate flatware. The dessert display, filled with yummy pies from Slice Pie, also had a touch of vintage with our cake stands, pie servers, and dessert plates.
Heartfelt congratulations to you two! Thank you for letting us all experience the feeling of gorgeousness on your wedding day!
Annie and Ben’s wedding was one of our most anticipated weddings this year. Why, you ask? For starters, when Annie visited the studio last October, she was super focused on designing a tablescape that was clean, colorful, and casual. She worked on several looks, changing goblet colors, napkins, and other details until she had what she and Ben wanted for their reception tables.
Secondly, in February Annie contacted us about wanting to learn more about our business and offered her time as an apprentice. By this time, we had decided to move to Boone Square and she was willing to help with packing up, which was an offer we could not refuse! By the time her wedding came, our friendship grew and we couldn’t wait to see Annie’s vision come together.
From our vintage collection, Annie choose our vintage white stoneware plates, colorful stoneware salad plates, and stainless flatware. She also incorporated our vintage pink goblets and vintage mustard napkins on the head table. And, finally the dessert table was adorned with one of our colorful floral tablecloth, and several speciality vases.
Seeing Arika Jordan‘s gallery of their wedding day at Carolina Grove was truly a joy. With all the pieces of the design set in place, the final look was glorious. Annie planned every last detail, from collecting the vases and jars on the guests’ tables and having them filled with colorful florals from Bowerbird Flowers, to designing the table numbers and adorable speciality cocktails named after their cats. The guest table assignments, hanging from a line outside, was such a clever touch, too.
Annie and Ben, what a beautiful, enchanting wedding day. May the years ahead be filled with love, adventure, and fun. And, thank you for such a lovely review!
We could not have had a better experience working with Southern Vintage Table for our spring wedding! Visiting Shelly’s studio to pick out our rentals was one of my favorite parts of our wedding planning process. She has a huge collection of gorgeous inventory, and she was such an excellent resource in helping us come up with the scheme for our table settings. Delivery of the rentals was seamless, and not only did our tables look stunning, but the vintage items added character to the (brand new) venue. Our only regret is not having used more from her collection! – Annie, Wedding Wire Review

Dana and Ryan’s wedding day was truly idyllic – beautiful Carolina blue skies, kind temperatures, and a picturesque private retreat, the Rigmor House. We distinctly remember driving up to the venue and thinking that the day was North Carolina perfect.
The ceremony took place outside amongst the lush green landscape and the reception was inside the house. Donned with dark blue linens, the table settings included our vintage blue and white dinner plates, salad plates, napkins, and multicolored, jewel-toned goblets. With the sunshine pouring in, the celebration space was alit with color and beauty. Courtesy of Three Region Photography, you’ll get a peek at these lovely tables.
Oftentimes detail items are requested, such as this easel with the seating chart and the silver trays for the appetizers. We love how they look!
One other note – our clients wanted to present their tables with the entire setting. Since it was a plated dinner, during the ceremony and appetizers, the caterer picked up the plates and plated the salad. When guests arrived for the meal, salads were ready to be enjoyed.
Bravo, Dana and Ryan! Your day was beautiful, colorful, and delightful. We loved being a part of your celebration and send wishes of love, joy, and adventure!
Yes, we adore lots of color, grandiose centerpieces, and, of course, vintage. However, we also appreciate beauty, elegance, and the clean simplicity seen in these photos captured by Kiley Gaston Photography. Sarah and Landon’s touch of vintage came through our vintage clear goblets and everything is stunning!
Bravo, Sarah and Landon! With your friends and family, we send best wishes for love, happiness, and lots of sweet smiles!
