To 2023, you have been filled with excitement, joy, and new beginnings. Thank you for bestowing us with many, many wonderful client memories and a successful year. To our clients, we sincerely thank you for choosing our company for your happy occasions and we wish you the very best in this new year.
“This is a new year. A new beginning. And things will change.” Taylor Swift
Before we close out our year, we are already looking toward next year. Today we will introduce you to several of our clients and show you their vintage tablescape designs. What do they have in common? Of course, the pieces are all vintage but also, they all have embraced color for their reception tables. These are weddings to take place in 2024 and, as always, we look forward to selecting their vintage pieces for their celebration.
Let us present two creative writers who met in school and now are getting married! Their design is super fun – table color schemes in brown, green, teal blue, yellow, and purple. It’s going to be a wonderful, vibrant celebration! (And, we got to slip in a slide show for you!)

This couple loves color and texture! With the various patterns of the vintage wildflower stoneware, they added colored goblets and patterned napkins. Our green and amber peg votives down the center will add another layer of glitz. This is certain to delight their guests!
When you can’t attend the meeting to design your reception tables, who do you call? Your parents, of course! These two visited the studio, perused our collections, and designed a blue themed tablescape for their daughter. We think she’ll like their vision!
Lastly, our client and her mother fell in love with the combination of blues and gold for their tablescape. They really loved trying various options and the different hues of our vintage blue goblets will be stunning!
What’s left for us this year? We have one return this week from a birthday tea party and at least one more client visit. As with any business, there’s always much to be done behind the scenes and we’l appreciate having a bit of time to tackle these tasks. Enjoy your week!
Time to catch you up on our news at Southern Vintage Table! We’ve got new vintage inventory and we are also showcasing our collection of vintage and handcrafted vases and planters.
Slowly we are building a collection of vintage items featuring orange. These three ginger jars are stunning and can be filled with florals or used as decor. Their vibrancy is delightful! We also have a few candy dishes that beautifully complement this colorful look.
Here are two vintage sets of goblets we have recently added. Currently we have the Diamond Point pattern in clear, green, amber, and now pink! We’d love to find the blue and black ones at some point. The set of Flaming Orange Pebble Beach midcentury goblets are incredible! We haven’t seen this pattern and now we have 8 of these to offer our clients. The hunt is on for the other colors – lemon twist, pink lady, black pearl, mocha, and crystal ice.
Diamond Point by Indiana Glass and Pebble Beach by Fostoria
Three new vintage dinner plate patterns have been added to different collections – green & white, midcentury retro, and elegant florals. All different but oh-so cool!
Tulane Commemorative by Wedgwood, Tanglewood Brown by Royal (USA), Pinecone by Lifetime China
Lastly, we have a design suggestion for those brave clients who crave the unexpected! Our collection of both vintage and handcrafted vases and planters is growing and we’d love for someone to embrace them in their tablescape design.
(Disclaimer – these are all faux flowers and arranged a bit haphazardly. Imagine if you used fresh florals!)
Our blog and social media have gone dark this past month, which we didn’t intend to happen. Where have we been? We’ve been recovering from a total hip replacement. Instead of catching up on emails and correspondence, and completing small projects, we needed time to heal. This meant doing much of nothing but icing muscles, resting, and going to physical therapy. Thankfully, with the help of friends, family, and helper Keven, our business kept on track.
Now it’s time to get back into the groove of sharing! Today’s post is a continuation of Gab and Tucker’s vibrant wedding at the Carolina Grove but this time we are sharing our own photos. Because the clients wanted us to set the tables, we were able to see the final result and snap a few of the many cool place settings and details. Mixed vintage plates, water and wine goblets, flatware, and napkins – every table was vibrant and fun!
As we mixed the vintage plate collections for each table, it was the perfect opportunity to include some of our commemorative plates featuring places and people. How fun are these, especially the Morehead Planetarium plate?
Along with vintage colored water and wine goblets, Gab and Tucker wanted to offer a variety of colored coupes for champagne and tumblers for mixed drinks. Since dessert was a frozen dish, our vintage berry dishes fit the menu perfectly.
We hope our photos show how much we enjoyed providing these vintage treasures for Gab and Tucker’s wedding. Many folks will fondly remember this celebration, including us!
Southern Vintage Table’s sign is finally up on the front of the main building at Boone Square! Even though we’ve been here for more than a year, seeing it when we drive into the parking lot evokes a sense of accomplishment being part of this long-standing business community. Shout outs go to Laser Imaging, Lindsey, Jay, Sam, and Dink for helping us with this milestone.
During May and June we provided our vintage tableware services to 16 fabulous clients with their tea parties, engagement dinners, baby showers, and wedding receptions and it’s time to connect with friends, catch up with our favorite series, and maybe even read a book or two!
But, before we close out for today, here are just a few memories we have of our clients’ table designs and vintage selections from these past two months. What a delightful variety!
We met Taylor when she was returning goblets from a photoshoot at Sugarneck, a rustic woodland venue in Sanford. We instantly clicked over our love for anything vintage. There was just something about her smile and happy personality that we broached the possibility of her working part-time at SVT. She said YES!
Since then she has helped fill orders, placed items back on the shelves, rehung our hanging plants, and loaded our van with delivery orders. Dang, we will miss her when she heads to college this fall! But, until then, we look forward to the mornings she comes to the studio with her positive energy and helpfulness. Taylor, we appreciate you!
Early April is such a lovely month to get married – the dogwoods and azaleas are blooming, the air is fresh, the trees have that lime green color, and everyone is thrilled that the hot humid summer is still months away. 🙂
We helped with four weddings this beautiful spring weekend – our couple clients were married at venues that are all about the beautiful outdoors – Windy Hill, The Barn of Valhalla, Cornealius Property, and Campbell Lodge. Our experiences with the first three locations have always been delightful, and this weekend was our first wedding at Campbell Lodge. When couples tell us they are getting married at any of these venues, we know they will truly enjoy their wedding day.
Windy Hill Farm is a working farm in northern Orange County and has been farmed since the 1800s. This authentic rustic venue is a wonderful place to get married and the owners are sincere about their mission to use “sustainablefarming practices … and preserve the history of this beautiful piece of earth.”
This beautiful upscale rustic venue, located on the rural west side of Chapel Hill, is an amazing place for events. The property has a barn, lodge, gazebo, walkways connecting all the sites, a pond, and lush grounds. We always love visiting this well-maintained venue.
Although we haven’t actually been to this upscale and inclusive venue, we’ve had many couples get married here. With the distance a bit further, they all have elected to pickup and return our rentals. Every couple we have served loves this place. Many features are included -Birdsong Chapel, Carriage Hall, HoneyMoon House, Camp Cabin, The Boat House, and a pond and dock.
This was our first wedding at the Campbell Lodge, a lovely venue nestled in a natural preserve owned by the city of Raleigh. The spacious lodge features two stone fireplaces on each end and a deck that overlooks one of the lakes at the preserve. We are very pleased to have visited this special venue and look forward to returning.
Preparing for these happy events kept us quite busy but we did get a chance to update last week’s post with more glassware numbers. Check it out!
Now, time to wash a few dishes and get ready for a wedding at another impressive venue, the Carriage House of Chapel Hill.
Yep, that’s right! Our shelves hold over 3000 pieces of vintage glassware!
The great inventory count has begun and, with Annie’s help, we’ve got the colors and numbers of glassware currently in our inventory. We overlooked the gray and orange goblets along with the clear coupes so expect an update this week. (The vintage tumblers are not featured here but their count can be found on our Vintage Drinkware page.)
Roll over the image to get the total number in each color category.
FYI – This gallery was made through Modula, a plugin we learned about today. One other thing we figured out was how to add text to photos in iPhoto – how did we miss this?
We are thrilled to share that Southern Vintage Table has been recognized by both The Knot and Wedding Wire! These two wedding industry giants that many couples use when researching vendors for their weddings, use clients’ reviews and ratings to determine the winners. Needless to say, we are immensely appreciative of our wonderful clients.
Here are a few of our amazing client reviews that almost make us blush:
Set the tone for our vintage-themed wedding
Shelly at Southern Vintage Table has an incredible selection of china and table decor that will add a special touch to your wedding! We got so many compliments on our mismatched place settings and every guest felt unique. The price is extremely competitive and Shelly lets you check out her entire collection and experiment with colors and styles in person before coming up with a game plan. We’re so thankful we found Southern Vintage Table!

Classy Style, Classier Vendor
Shelly has a beautiful collection of goblets and china to choose from. From our first meeting to view her inventory, to the final plate selection she was a true gem to work with. She allowed us to pick the plates ourselves which was a fun preparation event and gave the table settings a personal touchI highly recommend Southern Vintage for anyone looking to work with a local small business vendor and have a vintage wedding touch.

Wonderful Dishware from Shelly!
We rented dinner plates, dessert plates, coffee cups, and water goblets from Shelly for our wedding on October 22,2022. The plates she has available are so unique and beautiful, and my mom, mom’s best friend, and I had so much fun going and picking them all out. I had a very specific vision so Shelly let us come and pick out the plates for each table setting. Every time you go back to the stacks you find a new, beautiful plate to add into the selection! Shelly is really nice, and she handled dropping off, picking up, and cleaning all of the dishware before and after the event. Her selection of vintage plates is amazing and her customer service is as well! I highly recommend Southern Vintage Table for weddings and any other events where you might want an elegant looking table!

(Southern )Vintage Table is very professional, and very friendly to work with. I was very impressed with how they pack their dishes, glass plates and goblets. We chose to pick up and drop off from the store, and everything was packed securely in crates with wheels, so convenient. We were given detailed instructions on how to care for the items we rented. Everything we rented was absolutely beautiful!”

Amazing!!!!
The absolute BEST!! Shelly was such a joy to work with and has the most amazing selection of plates, goblets, silverware, candleholders and decorations. She brought our ‘vintage garden party’ vision to life with her blue and white china selection! Can’t recommend Southern Vintage Table enough.

Highly recommend!
We could not have had a better experience working with Southern Vintage Table for our spring wedding! Visiting Shelly’s studio to pick out our rentals was one of my favorite parts of our wedding planning process. She has a huge collection of gorgeous inventory, and she was such an excellent resource in helping us come up with the scheme for our table settings. Delivery of the rentals was seamless, and not only did our tables look stunning, but the vintage items added character to the (brand new) venue. Our only regret is not having used more from her collection!

Beautiful Vintage Table Rentals!
Choosing Southern Vintage Table for our wedding rentals was one of the best decisions we made planning our wedding! Shelly was wonderful to work with and handled all of the coordination for drop off and pick up with our venue so that we didn’t have to worry about a thing. We rented glassware, plates, and flatware and loved how beautiful and unique each piece was. The amber goblets especially were a favorite that helped bring so much warmth to our table settings. Thank you Southern Vintage Table for a great experience!
