There’s a special kind of energy that comes with planning an open house—the good kind. The kind that reminds you why you started in the first place. As March 19 approaches, we’re happily knee-deep in ideas, meetings, and creative sparks, and it finally feels real: our first open house is truly taking shape.
We’ve already met with Beau Catering, our copilot in this endeavor, and it’s been a joy dreaming alongside a team that understands how food, drink, and atmosphere work together to create an experience. Beau Catering will be providing light bites, a refreshing mocktail, and water for guests—thoughtful touches that will keep everyone mingling comfortably as the evening unfolds.

We’ve also been fortunate to collaborate with Sarah, who will be instrumental in designing the layout of the space. Her eye for flow and detail will help ensure the evening feels welcoming, intuitive, and just the right amount of magical. And because we love a good community moment, we invited Nicholas—the talented “guitar guy” in our building—to join us for a joint open house. It feels perfectly fitting to share the evening with a creative neighbor and give guests even more to discover.

One of the things we’re most excited about is the interactive component. Guests will have the opportunity to create their own place setting using gathered vintage china, flatware, napkins, and adornments. It’s hands-on, playful, and a lovely way to experience how mixing patterns and textures can feel both personal and timeless. We’re also planning a lighthearted game—Name That China Company—where guests can match cards to china patterns. A little friendly competition never hurt anyone, especially when vintage patterns are involved.

Florals will be lovingly handled by our friend Jami, whose touch always brings life and softness to a space. Meanwhile, behind the scenes, my focus has been on gathering photos from past events to display in the main area, pulling together a mailing list of invitees, and creating the Evite that will officially spread the word.
There’s still more planning ahead—there always is—but we’re well on our way, and it feels incredibly good to say that. This open house is already shaping up to be a celebration of community, creativity, and the beauty of gathering around a table. We can’t wait to welcome you into the studio and share what we’ve been building, one place setting at a time.
