Honeysuckle Tea House Vintage Tablescape with Props

Styled Shoot – Welcome to Camp Honeysuckle

A styled shoot is the ultimate fling for folks in the event business – the theme can be anything, vendors open up their offerings and skills, whether it’s inventory, photographic skills, food, florals, music, drinks, and yes, even cigars, and a true collaboration begins. We usually participate in a couple each year and the one featured today was truly one of our favorites. Camp Honeysuckle at The Honeysuckle Tea House included all of the elements that make a camp experience fun!

Events by Rebs visited the studio and together we designed 3 different vintage tablescapes – pink, yellow, and green/blue to coordinate with three of our vintage kitchen tablecloths. They included retro bold vintage plates, napkins and rings, flatware, and tumblers. New to our offerings are the woven placemats. Sprinkled around the shoot were many of our vintage props – on the tables, at the welcome and photo backdrop, and on the food table. The final look is so campy and Amy Ellis Photography captured it all for us!

Planning Vintage Tablescapes

Scenes from SVT – Our Clients Adore Vintage!

It’s true! Our visitors are kindred spirits when it come to appreciating the beautify of vintage tableware and everything else. Some have shared that they feel at home amongst all of our treasures. Their enthusiasm for our collections makes our hearts sing!

Today we’d like to introduce you to a delightful cadre of visitors and their creative vintage tablescapes. First up is Allie and Cameron – these two sweethearts who met in 4th grade are getting ready for their November wedding. They didn’t date until after college, but their shared childhood memories played an important role in their finding each other again.

This mother/daughters’ meeting was really fun! Although deliberation is continuing, Camille is considering different vintage colored-themed tables for her July wedding. Her sister Renee also started looking at possibilities for her September wedding. It’s going to be a busy few months for this family!

Cleveland and Lauren are making final plans for their November wedding. With her mother’s help, their design includes florals, colored goblets, and possibly peg votives on brass candleholders. We truly enjoyed meeting these folks!

We are so excited about Helen and Christian’s wedding scheduled for next year. Helen’s mother has a unique collection of vintage kitchen tablecloths that will be used as toppers for the tables. Here are three examples – mostly purples/pinks, blues/pinks, and yellow/greens. This is going to be totally fun!

Macie and Byron’s wedding is coming up this September. It’s an intimate affair with lots of color and special touches. They will be using colored Whitehall glasses paired with a colored wine glass. Initially, they set the table with two looks – one side with browns and the other with white stoneware. The final decision is to use vintage white stoneware with the colored pair of vintage goblets. It’s going to be a treat for their guests!

We’ve had the immense pleasure to meet Rebecca who owns Events by Rebs. Vivacious, super friendly, and full of energy, she planned a styled shoot at The Honeysuckle Teahouse using our vintage wares. We chose vintage kitchen tablecloths, a mix of complementary plates, napkins, tumblers, flatware, and natural chargers. Vintage suitcases, lanterns, and an assortment of other vintage decor also went out the door for this special shoot.

Six visitors with their own vintage flair and all personal to them. Looking forward to helping you with your wedding and seeing photos from the Rebs’ photo shoot!

Vintage Cake Stands with Domes

Features – Deliciousness on Vintage Cake Stands and More…

Happily Desserted

Don’t we all love to admire a beautifully crafted traditional tiered wedding cake? For us, it may be the highlight of the wedding reception! Nowadays, cakes are typically smaller with fewer layers and are accompanied by a menagerie of sweet treats for the guests.

Today’s post features the many different ways cakes and treats have been displayed using our vintage cake stands and other vintage items. The first set of photos showcase our vintage wooden, colored glass, milk glass and clear glass stands. The assortment of cakes look so yummy on them!

Now for the nontraditional ways to display a cake and treats! Handcrafted wooden boxes, upside-down baskets and wooden bowls, stacked vintage suitcases, vintage metal tins, and a vintage record player have been used to display the wedding cake and other treats. The personalities of the clients often are portrayed in their design!

Ah, petite and sweet… and, just like the lovely Morticia Addams, these small vintage dishes are delightful. Whether used as a serving dish for berries or a dessert bowl for ice cream, these wee pieces of china are hugely charming.

Vintage petite serving dishes are perfect to display mini delectables like fruit, candies, and small pastries. With their elegant shapes, designs, and patterns your guests with enjoy your treats for both their taste and presentation.

These petite vintage leaf dishes can hold lemons, candies, or any mini treat!

We have collected a few vintage specialty petite dishes that were, at first, a mystery. We thought these dishes had unique uses and it turns out they do indeed. First, the two handled dishes below are meant to serve lemon slices during teatime and are called – you guessed it – lemon servers!

Southern Vintage Table
Most vintage lemon servers have these cool handles.

The next specialty dish is for a vegetable that once was only affordable by affluent households so, of course, it deserved a dish of its very own. What was this highly revered vegetable – celery!  And, because celery was so magnificent (and expensive in the late 1800s), this status vegetable was displayed for all to see – in a celery vase. As celery became more affordable but still highly desired, the less prominent flat celery dish evolved. Now, this may be one of our favorite china history lessons of all time and, after learning this, we’ll surely appreciate every crunchy bite of this once coveted vegetable.

This beautiful art deco patterned piece is a celery dish.

This final vintage dish really stumped us at first. I remember holding it in the thrift store, turning it over, and looking at it from all angles, wondering what it was. The strange shape and indentation in the center is the perfect design for – as you can see – holding spoons!

Vintage Spoon Holder Dish

Perhaps our very favorite piece of china is the wee berry bowl. These small bowls are the perfect size for all kinds of edibles, whether it’s a side dish like peas, squash or brunswick stew or desserts like berries, ice cream, or – yum – banana pudding. We have great collection of berry bowls and we’d love to share them with you at your next dinner or event.

No doubt, when you are planning for a celebration or dinner party, it’s always important to remember the essentials – dinner plates, glassware, flatware, linens, etc. Remember, though, the small details – including these petite vintage dishes – are also wonderful to add to your list!
