Southern Vintage Table Event – A Re-Celebration of Rebekah & Joey’s Wedding

Two years ago my hard drive crashed. Yikes. I knew I should have had a backup but did I? Nope. I called my computer guy to see what he could salvage and, of course, he asked if I had a backup. Thoroughly embarrassed, I admitted that I did not. That’s when he gave me the bad news – that he might be able to recover some of the data but not all. Thankfully, he did get a lot of files back with strange file names that I had to rename and reorganize, but I knew many files were just lost. Lesson learned – I got set up on iCloud and another backup drive.

A couple weeks ago, as I’m looking for the photos from Rebekah and Joey’s September 2014 wedding and couldn’t find them, I remembered why – the hard drive crash. Because this was one of our first big weddings and it turned out so beautifully, I contacted the photographer, Anna Kirby, to see if she could help. And help she did. Gratefully, I downloaded new copies. So, today’s post is a re-celebration of Rebekah and Joey’s gorgeous wedding, set at the Saint Thomas Preservation Hall in Wilmington, photographed by Anna Kirby Photography,

Southern Vintage Table Event – Rain or Shine, Devon & Brian’s Wedding Day Was Wonderful!

Today we have some spectacular photos from Devon and Brian’s April wedding. Their Duke Chapel ceremony and Merry Hill reception, captured by Jessica Arden Photography, demonstrate how fun a rainy wedding day can truly be!

After getting married at the grand Duke Chapel, the wedding party moved to the pastoral beauty of Merry Hill Farm to celebrate. For their reception meal, this lovely couple used a mix of our vintage floral patterns with blue and white china to create a colorful table for their guests. On the dessert table and decorated with delicious cupcakes, our vintage tiered stands presented a yummy display for friends and family. Although their celebratory plans had to change a bit when the evening rain began, perhaps a little rain can create the best memories!

“Thank you so much for providing the amazing china and being such a pleasure to work with for our wedding. The plates were so beautiful and the tables looked amazing when everything came together! It ended up being rainy on our wedding night, so we had to move everything under the tents and lost some of the pretty Merry Hill scenery, and I was so happy that we had beautiful table settings to add some color and charm to the tent space! And don’t worry, we ended up having the most fun ever despite the rain!” – Devon

Gosh, this final photo at Duke Chapel is simply perfect! Congrats, Devon and Brian, and best wishes for a fun-filled future together, rain or shine!

Vintage Feature – Move Update!

It’s almost been 2 months since Amy and I first got the keys to our studio and we are getting so, so close! The sign is on the window, more shelves filled, inventory shuffled, Amy’s shelves and flower cooler are in, and – the most exciting news for SVT – the commercial dish machine is being installed tomorrow! Whoop, whoop!

Southern Vintage Table Event – Kelcey & Isaac’s Vintage Wedding

We have been looking forward to Kelcey and Isaac’s wedding day for over a year and yesterday was the day! All of the designing, planning, and organizing culminated in one of the most beautiful weddings we’ve ever seen. With our vintage place settings set on Greenhouse Picker Sisters‘ farm tables and Springwell Gardens‘ oh-so splendid flower arrangements, the reception area at Merry Hill Farm was transformed into a gorgeous sea of color and textures.

At each table were vintage vessels filled with beautiful floral bouquets, including a collection of teacups collected by Kelcey for her wedding day. Springwell Gardens also created lovely aromatic bouquets in our vintage silver creamers, milk glass vases and compotes, and stoneware pitchers.

Final vintages touches included framed table markers, biscuit/tea tins, and books, Votives and candles in vintage brass candle holders added the sparkle of light at each table for the evening of fun and celebration.

Now we can’t wait to hear all the details and see the evening through Kelcey and Isaac’s professional photos. It was such a pleasure being part of this wedding day and working with a team of incredible vendors. We don’t have the complete vendor list but we’ll share them when we post the “real” photos!

Thanks to my sweet sisters, Rowena and Sharon, and dear friend Priscilla, for your help yesterday! And, you’ll want to know that the “bury the bourbon” Southern tradition came through with a gorgeous North Carolina day!

And, of course, a heartfelt congratulations to Kelcey and Issac! Best wishes for a loving, joyful life together!

Southern Vintage Table Event – We’ve Got Big News!

Yep, this is big. Really big. Hugely big. This month Southern Vintage Table is moving to a studio space in Hillsborough! Yay!!

This is incredibly exciting for both SVT and our studio partner, Amy Wurster of Knots ‘n Such. We both are eager to take this step in building our businesses and it just feels so right!

Behind this door will be Knots ‘n Such and STV’s shared studio!

April and May are going to be incredibly busy for us as we pack, unpack, and organize our wares but, nonetheless, exhilarating. I can’t wait to see shelves and shelves filled with vintage plates, goblets, and other treasures for our clients to browse through. Be on the lookout for progress reports and an invitation to come visit!

PS – The “M” on the keychain is for my given name, Michele, and the Tile, well, that’s probably self-explanatory…

PPS – Amy is the cutie holding the keys and that’s me fantasizing about all those shelves. Haha!

Vintage Feature – A Few New Additions to our Collections

Today we’d like to share a few additions to our vintage collections. They include a new glassware color, a new vintage china pattern, and a new batch of vintage colored candleholder votives. Here they are!

Brown is the latest color to be added to our vintage glassware collection. With hues of deep chocolate to light caramel, these goblets and tumblers present many design possibilities! Currently we have 20+ and plan to add more patterns soon.

I was strolling through a thrift store this week and found a stack of gorgeous vintage Homer Laughlin luncheon and salad plates. And, to top it off, they were half price! With their detailed and distinctive rim, they are the perfect layering companion to a place setting of pink, green and gold.

Green and blue and red, oh my! These vintage colored candleholder votives are simply marvelous and their jewel-toned colors, designs, and textures complement our vintage glassware perfectly. Embrace your love of color and include both on your tablescape!

Southern Vintage Table Event – Olivia & Joseph’s Winter Wedding

It was a beautiful NC October afternoon when Olivia, Joseph, and I first met on the outside patio of a Raleigh coffee shop. I took notes during our conversation in so far as their wedding vision and, while those details have since faded, what I distinctly remember is how I felt during our meeting. What endures is my memory of their genuineness, kindness, and warmth. I knew that day this was going to be an extraordinary wedding for everyone – family, friends, guests, vendors, and especially, this lovely couple.

Fast forward to their January wedding day at the Cloth Mill in Hillsborough. With friends Priscilla and Jami, we meticulously set the tables for their 200+ guests. In planning for this day, I went into teacher-mode – carefully matching dinner and salad plates, organizing them by their table numbers, selecting a coordinating colored goblet, and finally organizing it all into a nice, neat spreadsheet. (Indeed, I was super proud of myself!)

So, within hours, our tables were ready for the Greenhouse Picker Sisters and Bowerbird Flowers to add their centerpiece magic. I think you’ll agree, the end result was magnificent! The china and goblets from Southern Vintage Table made our wedding reception! Everything was absolutely beautiful and Shelly did the most amazing job at pairing everything together. Shelly was there the day of the wedding meticulously matching up plates and setting out goblets and we couldn’t have been happier. Shelly was the sweetest vendor that we had and we immediately had a connection – she took the time to listen to what we wanted and was so intentional about getting to know us and what we wanted in our wedding. She was super responsive to emails and always followed up with us. We got so many compliments on our plates and how our tables looked because of the china and goblets. If I was getting married again, I would absolutely, without a doubt, use Southern Vintage Table again. You can tell that Shelly loves what she does and her main goal is to make the bride and groom happy.

Vintage Feature – What’s Your Vintage Style?

Vintage has been trending for some time now and we think it’s here to stay. Reasons why? It’s extremely versatile – from elegant to rustic and everything between. Ready to embrace vintage for your occasion? By no means are these the only vintage styles to consider but here are 5 to get you started.

1 – Vintage Elegant Style – Elegant can be elaborate or simple, but most will incorporate florals, gold or silver touches, on a creamy or white background. A mix of silver-plated flatware accompanies elegant place settings beautifully along with vintage goblets, either colored or clear.

2 – Vintage Blue and White Style – This is a classic look everyone loves. The dark blue against white is striking and anchors the place settings on the table. You can dress it up with silver-plated flatware or keep it more casual with an eclectic mix of stainless. Slip in some vintage bakelite pieces with the stainless to add even more interest. Depending on your color scheme, add either colored or clear goblets.

3 – Vintage White Style – White is crisp, clean, and ready to dress up with colored napkins, goblets, tablecloths, or be placed on a bare farm table. This is the perfect choice if you want basic white but also are looking for something more than identical place settings. Add either silver-plated or stainless flatware, perhaps even with a mix of bakelite pieces. Keep it clean with clear goblets or make it pop with an array of colored goblets.

4 – Bold MidCentury Style – Thinking about a boho or bold look? This style of vintage dinnerware is the ticket. The colors range from orange/yellow/brown range to blue/green with geometric, bold designs. Matching colored goblets give each place setting a put-together look. Add casual napkins and stainless or silver plated flatware with perhaps a mix of bakelite and you have a colorful, fun table for your guests.

5 – Vintage Stoneware Style – The 80s come alive with this variety of floral dinner plates. Having a rustic, barn, and outdoor wedding or event? Consider incorporating these quaint designs and see how these similar yet different patterns lined up on the table is truly delightful! Stainless flatware, possibly mixed with some bakelite pieces, along with colored goblets, especially amber, green and brown, are the perfect complement for this casual, hip look.

Southern Vintage Table Event – “Poised & Polished” in Southern Bride Magazine

Starting the new year with exciting news about our 2nd print magazine feature! We took part in a beautifully styled shoot last spring that we described in our blog post, Three Terrific Takeaways from Rose Hill Styled Shoot. We all felt the shoot was something pretty special and Southern Bride Magazine agrees!
