Vintage Bridal Shower Table

Styled Shoot – Elegant Vintage Blue Bridal Shower

Elegant, blue and white with splashes of yellow, and heaps of uniqueness were part of Bess and Beau Event Design‘s styled shoot at 5th and Washington Event Center. The customized details were extraordinary – a personalized crest, lush florals, beautiful two-layered cake, speciality chinoiserie cookies, and even a folded fortune teller! Stephanie Batten Photography captured all of this and we are so happy to share her photos today. Be sure to note the team of vendors listed at the end.

Southern Vintage Table Events – A Rainy Day Wedding Brings Sweet Memories

© MKM Photography, http://mkm.photos

We’d guess that no couple wishes for a rainy day wedding, but hey, it happens. And, there are reasons to embrace the raindrops! Folklore says rain signifies a lasting marriage with fresh beginnings. For certain, the newlywed and guests probably will remember this day quite fondly, especially with the amazing rain photos!

Heather and Paul’s rainy wedding day was gorgeous and joyous, as captured by MKM Photography. Rain or shine, the Chapel Hill Carriage House offers both beautiful grounds and an open, covered pavilion so the ceremony easily was moved inside, as shown in a photo below.

The vintage reception tables were both fun and enchanting! The couple chose vintage wildflower stoneware and goblets in greens, blues, and amber, vintage stainless flatware, and dessert plates. This bold blend of colors was a winning combination for this misty day.

Vintage Teapots

Southern Vintage Events – Hosting a Vintage Tea Party

Think hosting a tea party is beyond your comfort zone? Well, wipe that notion from your mind because we are here to help you through every step of the way.

Here’s Madison. When she came in to our studio last year to plan her reception tables, she took note of our extensive collection of vintage teacups and told us that one day she wanted to have a tea party. The perfect opportunity came up when she offered to host a baby shower tea party for a dear friend. Yay!

After selecting the tea cups, she then matched them with salad-size plates. Next came teapots, tiered stands, curd bowls, goblets, napkins, and gold flatware. Notice the teeny spoons in the teacups? They are demitasse spoons and perfectly sized. Finally, Madison chose vintage clear goblets to complete her place settings. We also had two vintage pink tablecloths that became the first layer of her tablescape. Now, see how beautiful everything turned ou!

Ready to be inspired? We’ll help you get everything you need for your guests to enjoy this long cherished social gathering!

Vintage Peg Votives

Scenes from SVT – Vintage Inspired Tablescapes

Here in North Carolina we have two primary wedding seasons – spring and fall. Both are beautiful times of the year and we enjoyed helping many clients plan their reception tables. Most of these clients will be getting married next year in the spring, hence the light spring colors, but the final set of photos is for a gathering this month and don’t we all love ambers and greens in the mix for this time of year! Today you’ll see how six clients have created six distinctive, beautiful vintage tablescapes.

A kaleidoscope of color is on this client’s wishlist for her reception tables. She asked us to mix it up when we select her vintage pieces which we are so happy to do!

This couple has embraced color which we adore! They will be setting tables in themes of green, orange, and yellow for their winter wedding. From the closeup to the long view, this will be dazzling!

This tablescape features not only colored goblets, but also napkins in the same color. The couple explored several options and landed on the place settings being a mix of cream and gold. It’s going to be quite lovely!

Vintage colored goblets add sparkle and so do the clear peg votives atop of the brass candleholders. The vintage plates fall under the bolder category, which means more even more color for guests to enjoy at their spring wedding.

Ahhh, classic blue and white suits any season but this wedding will be this spring. The bride and her friend are so excited for this day!

Green, amber, and gold are quintessential for a fall gathering. The colored peg votives and eclectic mix of brass candleholders will add a special spark to the tablescapes.

To us, it’s remarkable and wonderful that all of these clients have created their own unique, personal design. We are booking for next year and if you are interested in our services, please fill out the contact form and we’ll set up your consultation!

Features – Eleven Years of October Celebrations – 2013-2023

Two ah-ha moments occurred as we were planning this week’s blog post. The first happened while browsing our photo library and came across our very first wedding. It was October 2013, our first year in business. It’s hard to describe how exciting it was to book our first real event! While reminiscing about this day, the idea to feature one October event for every subsequent year popped into our heads. Our search began…

The second moment was finally figuring out how to add a slide show. If you’ll remember, we attempted to do that earlier this year but just couldn’t figure it out. So frustrating! Well, we are happy to debut our first slide show! Rolling back 11 years, each slide portrays one event that year in October. Being our first, it’s not as polished as we’d like but we are happy to have it up and running!

Southern Vintage Table Events – Alea and Devyn’s Charming Wedding

Pink and green – two complementary colors that are fabulous for a wedding celebration. Together they represent kindness, compassion, and love, which made them a wonderful choice for Alea and Devyn’s reception tables where friends and family gathered to honor the newlyweds.

On a recommendation from a friend, Alea came to the studio to consider options for her wedding reception tables. She had already bought disposable dinnerware but had second thoughts. After playing with a few combinations and consulting with Devyn, they chose our vintage florals plates, goblets in pink and green, and stainless flatware. What a sweet, charming design!

Bravo, Alea and Devyn! Wishing everything wonderful for you two!
Love this photo and that truck!

Vintage Colored Wine Goblets

News – Getting Back to Blogging!

Our blog and social media have gone dark this past month, which we didn’t intend to happen. Where have we been? We’ve been recovering from a total hip replacement. Instead of catching up on emails and correspondence, and completing small projects, we needed time to heal. This meant doing much of nothing but icing muscles, resting, and going to physical therapy. Thankfully, with the help of friends, family, and helper Keven, our business kept on track.

Now it’s time to get back into the groove of sharing! Today’s post is a continuation of Gab and Tucker’s vibrant wedding at the Carolina Grove but this time we are sharing our own photos. Because the clients wanted us to set the tables, we were able to see the final result and snap a few of the many cool place settings and details. Mixed vintage plates, water and wine goblets, flatware, and napkins – every table was vibrant and fun!

As we mixed the vintage plate collections for each table, it was the perfect opportunity to include some of our commemorative plates featuring places and people. How fun are these, especially the Morehead Planetarium plate?

Along with vintage colored water and wine goblets, Gab and Tucker wanted to offer a variety of colored coupes for champagne and tumblers for mixed drinks. Since dessert was a frozen dish, our vintage berry dishes fit the menu perfectly.

We hope our photos show how much we enjoyed providing these vintage treasures for Gab and Tucker’s wedding. Many folks will fondly remember this celebration, including us!

Vintage Colorful Wedding Tables

Southern Vintage Table Events- An Eclectic Vibrant, Vintage Wedding

Oh my goodness! Gab and Tucker’s wedding was a fabulous gala affair! These two professional planners had a colorful, personal vision for their celebration and the final vibrant result was absolutely magnificent!

We first met with Gab and Tucker in January to begin planning for our part in their wedding day. When they described their eclectic, radical ideas with us, we almost did a happy dance – mixing every possible element on the reception tables has always been a fantasy and now it was going to be realized.

As you can see, they chose pieces from every collection – vintage plates, water and wine goblets, flatware, napkins, dessert bowls, tumblers, and champagne coupes. Getting these pieces together took us over a week and we were very excited to set the tables.

The couple grew their flowers and prepared the many wine bottles. Note the shelves of vases below – guests were asked to chose their bouquet, take it to their table, and then take it home. Such a wonderful touch!

Gab and Tucker, it was an absolute pleasure working with you. Your wacky, crazy idea was stunning and we absolutely loved it! May every day be as loving and fun as your wedding day.

Southern Vintage Table Event – Elegant Nuptials at the Colonial Inn

Suzanne and Wade’s wedding was such a treat for us! First, our design meeting at our studio with Suzanne and Morgan of West Queen Studios was both delightful and productive. We created a mock table with vintage white and cream plates with gold embellishments, added an array of vintage purple goblets, and finished it off with the vintage gold flatware. Voila! Suzanne and Wade’s reception tables materialized. (Photos by Griffin Hart Davis)

Second, with additional vintage items, our vintage presence was felt at cocktail time, the main meal, and dessert time. The cocktail tables were dressed with florals and votives on our vintage dresser mirror. The beautiful dessert table included our vintage dessert plates and a cake stand. And, as a special touch for their guests, a finger bowl (aka small vintage compote) was included at each guest’s place setting.

Lastly, we loved that the venue was in our home town of Hillsborough at the historic Colonial Inn. Many locals, including moi, were ecstatic when the inn was renovated after years of disrepair. This was our first wedding here and hope we have the pleasure of helping with many more!

Beautiful day, venue, and couple! We are sincerely appreciative to have been a part of your wedding day, Suzanne and Wade. Best wishes for much happiness, fun, and adventures!
