Our 2019 wedding season opened with the wedding of Kirstin and Glenn at the historic Pittsboro venue, Forest Hall at Chatham Mills. When viewing these romantic photos from Magnolia Photography, we instantly felt the happiness and joy of spring, perfect for their wedding day.

From our collection, the couple chose our vintage goblets in light blue, pink, purple, and turquoise – hues of a gorgeous spring day. The tables light up with their colors and help radiate the anticipation of Kirstin and Glenn’s exciting new life together.

Vintage Feature – The Move Is On!

We have one month to do it and we are totally excited – we are moving! The big reveal will be next month but, in the meantime, we are relocating all of this . . .

. . . to this space! Instead of one open room, the new studio will have three rooms to design and fill.

Thank goodness we have kind friends and family who will be helping us because there’s a lot of vintage coolness to pack up! One thing is certain – It’s going to be amazing when we are finished!

New Year, New Goals

It’s time to set new goals for 2019! We have 3 this year and here they are:

Goal 1: Move to a new location!

Our lease is up in March so it’s time to relocate to a place of our own. Sharing a unit for the past two years has helped build our confidence but we are ready to go solo! With several options on the table, we should have our new space selected in a few weeks.

Goal 2: Create a weekly to-do list.

When you own your business and do it all, it can be difficult to manage every aspect. For instance, there’s the physical part – inventory to maintain, orders to filled by selecting, packing, and washing and then washing and putting everything away. There’s delivery/pickup and cleaning tasks. The other arena of work includes answering and sending emails, paying bills, maintaining the website, posting on social media, writing a weekly post, and researching new inventory. So, with all of these different tasks to manage, we want to create a weekly to-do list that addresses both the immediate needs as well as maintenance requirements. Whew.

Goal 3: Set a monthly thrift store budget. Gulp.

This will undoubtedly be a toughie! We love to pop in thrift stores to browse the latest inventory and even though we occasionally have walked in and walked out, most of the time we leave with something. Vintage shopping overlaps business and pleasure but we need to set a limit. What that limit is has yet to be determined. 🙂

See how excited I am – it’s my first time in this store!

That’s it! Moving, writing to-do lists, and limiting thrift shopping. We can do it!

Vintage Feature – It’s Movie Time!

Today’s post is more than just words – it’s a full length one-minute movie! We gathered some, and we mean only some, of our favorite photos and seamed them together into a video that we hope captures the depth of our vintage table setting collection.

So, get the popcorn ready and enjoy!  (Click on the photo below.)

Southern Vintage Table Events – Love, Love, Boho Love

This may be the easiest blog post to write because we are going to point you to a beautiful blog post on Knotsvilla featuring a September photoshoot at the 1870 Farm in Chapel Hill, spearheaded by the talented Kelsea Merchant of HoneyBee Mine Events. The photos you’ll see were taken by Danielle Smith of DHS Photography and they are mesmerizing!

Before you head there, we first must share how much fun we had helping with this shoot!  Collaborating with Kelsea, we explored several different looks before settling on the bold, retro place settings, bright hand-crafted runner, and table decor. After the table was set, those glorious flower bouquets by Art of Motion Events were placed and their vintage furniture arranged, the fab Boho cake from Artylicious Cakes positioned on our vintage suitcases, Sugar Euphoria‘s delicious macaroons stacked, the adorable Lil Photo Bus parked, and, with the models groomed in their smashing attire, everything was set for Rebecca and Danielle to capture the day. Needless to say, in spite of the rainy weather (or perhaps because of it!), we loved working with this team of professionals!

Vintage Feature – Making Progress on our Linen Inventories!

Vintage Linen Rental - Southern Vintage Table We’ve been quite focused on our vintage linen collection and can proudly announce that 5 inventory slide shows are now available under our Vintage Linens tab. Yay!

Vintage Lace & Crocheted Tablecloth Inventory
Vintage Table Topper Inventory
Vintage Napkin Inventory
Vintage Doilies & Runners Inventory
Vintage White/Cream Tablecloth Inventory

An interesting thing happened along the way of our sorting, counting, and measuring – we discovered that we have amassed a very nice collection of vintage table toppers! These are small tablecloths or large doilies usually placed over a base cloth in the center of the table as an accent. Embellished with embroidery, lace, and/or colorful designs, these toppers add a dash of style to your table design!

Most are square but we also have a few round and rectangular ones. As an alternative to our vintage lace overlays, you may want to consider these lovelies as a backdrop for your table’s centerpiece.

There’s much more to add to our linen inventory – colored tablecloths, printed tablecloths, and placemats – so stay posted.  We look forward to sharing these with you soon!
