Vintage Reception Tables at The Victorian Youngsville

Southern Vintage Table Events – A Wonderful Vintage Wedding at The Victorian

Have we mentioned that we love what we do? There are many reasons to be grateful but perhaps at the top of the list are the wonderful folks we meet. From vendors to clients, the wedding industry is filled with people who are gracious, kind, and joyful.

Kate and Jonathan embody these traits. We really enjoyed meeting them and being present as they created their own vintage magic with our vintage tableware. As you view these gorgeous photos by Halifax Hill Studios, you’ll see our vintage dinner plates, goblets, napkins, and silver-plate flatware on their pretty reception tables, but the photos we loved most are the ones with Kate and Jonathan. What a sweet, adoring couple!

Thank you, Kate and Jonathan, for inviting us to help with your wedding. Sending you two wishes of enduring love, happiness, and glee!

Thank you also for this marvelous review on Wedding Wire!

We were going for a 1930s feel and Shelly at Southern Vintage Table turned that vision into reality. Bonus: rentals were not only unique, they fit our budget better than the large event rental companies we considered! Shelly gave us time and space to explore her incredible collection and experiment with table designs in person, and lent her expertise as well. We love the mismatched settings we ended up with and our guests had so much fun comparing beautiful plates. Our water goblet rentals from Shelly added the pop of color we needed at our reception. It wouldn’t have been the same without Southern Vintage Table! 10/10 would recommend!

Vintage Tea Party Dishes

Scenes from SVT – October 2, 2022

What a wild weekend here in NC! Hurricane Ian almost kept us from our weekly blog post but cable was restored earlier this evening just in time. Whew!

Last week a client and her friend came to the studio to select the vintage plates and goblets for her wedding that was taking place that weekend. One by one, they set each table with plates and goblets and then packed them by tables for easy setup. How many you might wonder? 150!

And, courtesy of An Event to Remember, here are two photos of their final tables. Don’t they look fabulous? Do you recognize the vintage plate in the first photo? That was one of our latest additions featured two weeks ago on our blog. It’s already a favorite!

We had so much fun packing for a birthday tea party that’s taking place this week in the mountains. The main colors for the tables of 4 were yellow, purple, pink, dark blue, green, and light blue. WIth our vintage teapots, teacups and saucers, salad plates, lemon plates, sugar and creamers, curd dishes, napkins, and flatware, the only things left are the tea and food!

Now for our new additions. We found one of each of the following dinner plates. The first is called Black Peony by Churchill. Hope we can find more of these! The second is also pretty awesome -made in the USA by Royal China. After searching online, we couldn’t find this pattern anywhere so it must be pretty rare. More goblets were added to our collection of vintage colored goblets. Amber is one of our most popular colors, especially in the fall, and these will be headed out next week!

Thanks again for checking in with us. Our latest project is the linen room New shelving units will replace the three dressers to provide much needed room so we can finally keep the door open!

Vintage Wedding Table Settings

Southern Vintage Table Events – Large and Small, Every Detail Was Covered!

Talk about details! Halie and Chandler’s sweet spring wedding, held at the Women’s Club of Portsmouth in Virginia and photographed by Ryann Winn Photography, was a happy occasion for everyone. From butterfly releases to gelato to a Pittsburg Wedding Cookie Table, this wedding was full of fun surprises.

Spring colors of green, blue, and pink were chosen as the theme of their wedding and our vintage delicate floral plates fit perfectly. With vintage green, pink, and blue goblets, vintage silver-plated flatware, and a vintage teacup and saucer, each place setting expressed that this wedding was indeed a special day.

Now, you might think the teacups are for tea or coffee but you would be incorrect! Guests were invited to fill them with yummy gelato from the gelato cart. How cool is that?

But, that was not the only dessert! Take a look at the cake stands filled with many varieties of cookies from Terri Negil Terry’s Tantalizing Treats. This display is a tradition known as a Pittsburgh Wedding Cookie Table. This “sweet” tradition, is new to us, and maybe you, too, so here’s a brief description from History of Wedding Cookie Table.

“Rooted deep in the history of Western Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Eastern Ohio lies the beloved cookie table. To the folks in these parts of the country, a wedding without a Cookie Table is like having a wedding without the Bride and Groom – pointless! The Wedding Cookie Table has strong ethnic and religious ties, linked mainly to European immigrants of Catholic descent – particularly present in industrial areas that housed Italians, Greeks, and other Europeans.

Although the beginning of the Cookie Table is debatable, it is believed that this sweet sensation has been around since the Great Depression. It has been implied that the Cookie Table grew in popularity during this time because it offset the cost of purchasing a wedding cake, due in large part to the family and friends who baked for the wedding.”

One more unique took place after Harlie and Chandler said their vows. Symbolizing a new beginning filled with love, butterflies were released by the couple and guests. How wonderful!

Finally, we want to thank Shannon and Madison, Harlie’s mother and sister, for making the trek from Virginia to our Hillsborough studio for both the pickup and return. We recognize this took time and effort and we are most appreciative. They also presented us with many lovely pieces to add to our inventory. What a sweet gesture!

Best wishes to you two, Harlie and Chandler. Along with the butterflies, we wish you hope, love, and a wonderful life together.

Vintage Colored Goblets

Scenes from SVT – September 18, 2022

Hey there! Time to share what we’ve been doing these past two weeks and it’s been anything but humdrum!

First, four groups of clients came by to select pieces for their events – 3 weddings and 1 styled shoot. As usual, they each had a different vintage vision and we really enjoyed meeting them and seeing what they chose.

We also are working with a client via email, FaceTime, and photos because she isn’t able to come to our studio. Her vibrant vibe includes a mix of bright colors and we are excited that she’s using our vintage teapots for her bouquets of red roses!

Now, this isn’t the most amazing photo but it does show that we often need to soak napkins after an event. These have been in their bath for several days before going into the washing machine. And, almost all of the stains came out!

Here’s a new addition to our vintage delicate floral collection. Aren’t these gorgeous? We forgot to note the name and maker of this gorgeous pattern so expect an update.

Lastly, Priscilla, Janis, Sarah and I set these dreamy tables at Lavendar Oaks Farm Saturday. It turned out that it was a mini McDougle reunion because Lisa from Fireside Farms was there adding the florals and greenery. (Priscilla, Lisa, and I all taught at MMS and have remained friends years later.)

Two more weddings were happening this weekend – one in the mountains and the other in South Carolina – and we are grateful they were able to pickup and return! Have a great week!

Vintage Red Place Setting

Styled Shoot – Sweet Strawberry Themed Elopement

We are back with our 3rd installment of the Green Wedding Guild and  ElopeNC‘s Spring 2022 Challenge. Fresh, juicy red strawberries were the inspiration for this theme and our vintage red pieces took center stage. The bright design by KaraMia Events and sweet photos taken by MKM Photography are a tribute to this tasty treat!

For the table setting, our vintage red/pink and white dinner plates, paired with a red goblet, look bright and happy! Vintage stainless flatware with the darling rose-shaped napkin complete each setting for the happy couple. Red and pink books from our vintage collection were used to elevate our red-flashed compote filled with lovely florals. A final touch was the pair of pink glass candleholders. But wait, take a look at those fresh and chocolate-covered strawberries. What a nice touch!

We love the dessert table setup! That beautiful cake, sitting atop our vintage milk glass cake stand, looks amazing! Milk glass was the star on this table – in addition to the cake stand, you can see a hobnail vase filled with florals and a candle holder. The touch of light blue, seen on the sweetheart table, also shows up in the vintage dessert plates.

Beautiful work, KaraMia Events! If you missed our first two features, check out Green Wedding Guild and ElopeNC Spring 2022 Challenge and “A Whimsical Tea Party Elopement” .

Vintage Pink Glassware

Scenes from SVT – September 3, 2022

So many pretty things to share today! It’s been two weeks since our last “Scenes from SVT” and we have continued to work on both the organization and aesthetics of our studio. WIth the expertise of sister Janis, we reorganized the vintage colored and clear glass shelves. We are really happy with the results!

The cabinet at the front end gets re-decorated pretty often as new items come in. Those amazing pine cones and urn were gifted by Priscilla. We love them!

After tomorrow’s wedding at the Merrimon-Wynne, our vintage wares were part of 6 weddings at 6 different venues in the past two weeks – The Waverly, Lavendar Oaks, The Earth Sanctuary at Timberlake, The RIckhouse, and The Victorian. Vintage purple, pink, blue, clear, and green goblets donned tables as well as flatware, napkins, and vintage elegant florals and classic blue and white plates. After selecting, packing, washing, and covering the crates in plastic, we roll the crate-filled carts to an aisle, ready to be delivered to the venue.

On occasion clients are unable to visit the studio because of the distance from their location. Here’s a display of plates for a client to approve for her very eclectic and vintage September wedding. She loved them!

Lastly, we have added a few things to our inventory. We found two plates of this adorable vintage Royal USA pattern (RYL325) at a thrift store visit on our way back from one delivery. And, we came upon 5 more vintage amber goblets which have been very popular this fall. They really do sparkle on the tables. Thanks for checking in this week!

Vintage Spring Wedding Reception with Colored Goblets

Southern Vintage Table Events – A Spring Garden Party Wedding

Can one feel gorgeousness? While gazing at these photos taken by photographer Annie Timmons of Maddie and James’ wedding, we instantly felt happiness, pleasure, and, yes, gorgeousness. The lovely spring colors found in the vintage goblets, Folie a Deux Events florals, and candlesticks coalesced into a dreamy, wondrous wedding and reception at the beautifully restored historic venue, The Parlour at Manns Chapel.

On these lovely reception tables are our vintage stoneware plates, an array of vintage pastel goblets, and silver-plate flatware. The dessert display, filled with yummy pies from Slice Pie, also had a touch of vintage with our cake stands, pie servers, and dessert plates.

Heartfelt congratulations to you two! Thank you for letting us all experience the feeling of gorgeousness on your wedding day!

Vintage Retro Plates

Scenes from SVT – August 21, 2022

Let’s get started on our latest Scenes from SVT! First, we had two sets of client visits at the studio. One couple really liked the blue and white theme for their 2023 summer wedding. Green and amber were the primary colors preferred by our second bride who has a fall 2023 wedding date. The best part of their visits is that they enjoyed creating their own vintage table design. Oh yeah, the medley of retro plates in the header are connected to a bride we are remotely helping with her tablescape.

With the basics in place, we continue to personalize the space with more of our vintage finds. More pictures, trays, and plates are going up in the entrance and main room. Our favorite update? The hanging light over the table!

We also are gearing up for a busy weekend ahead! We have 3 weddings and we will be headed to Whitsett, Chapel Hill, and Waverly, Virginia. Pink, blue, purple, and clear goblets, a total of 470, have been washed, and plates selected. Washing plates, wrapping crates, and selecting the brass decor are on the agenda for tomorrow!

Have a great week ahead!

Vintage Elopement Table

Styled Shoot – Green Wedding Guild and ElopeNC Spring 2022 Challenge

The Green Wedding Guild did it again and this year they joined forces with ElopeNC. We are talking about the annual design challenge in which planners and their team of expert vendors create an original wedding ceremony and reception. This year the vendor teams met at the lovely historic Old Lystra Inn in Chapel Hill. Each had a different take on an elopement wedding and we are excited to share a series of posts that will highlight their work.

In a previous post, “A Whimsical Tea Party,” Emily and Eva of Emily Katherine Events created a colorful, eclectic Bridgerton-inspired tea party elopement wedding and reception. Be sure to check it out if you haven’t already!

Today’s post is the work of Hayley and Hannah of An Event to Remember. The color green, music, and vintage were blended to craft their tranquil, harmonic, and charming look. These photos of Rachel Abi beautifully capture their theme.

Starting with the table settings on both the sweetheart and guest table, our contributions included the vintage crocheted overlay, green goblets, green plates, galvanized floral containers, and ukulele. We love now our vintage basket is stacked as a petite cake table with that delicious cake perched on our vintage aluminum cake stand. To set off the seating chart, our vintage train case and floral-filled green thermos added an adorable touch.

With the groom being a musician, musical “notes” were sprinkled throughout. Notice the vintage 45s under the table florals and placed on the vintage green train case. Designed by Hannah and Hayley, the table seating chart was a creative musical twist and threaded among the table florals are strips of music sheets. Finally, we love how our ukulele has a prominent place on the guest table.

Bravo team! Thanks for including our vintage wares in this harmonious “green” elopement!

Vintage Silver Tea Pots

Scenes from SVT – August 7, 2022

We have a lot to reveal from our studio at Boone Square! First, we had three sets of clients and all designed their own unique vintage look. The first set of guests were designing for an ElopeNC styled shoot around April’s gemstone, the diamond. Using the sparkle from vintage glass plates, clear goblets, and crystal bobeches on glass candleholders, we think their design was “brilliant!”

The second two visitors were couples planning their 2023 weddings. A garden theme with vintage goblets of blue, green, pink, and yellow and dainty vintage plates to coordinate will be so pretty for the first couple’s April wedding. Classic vintage blue and white was exactly what the next couple wanted for their reception tables. Both couples were delighted with their designs and we were, too!.

Now to the studio updates! The vintage silver area needed a bit more organization so we added more teapots to the walls and sorted the trays in drawers. The vintage patina on the creamers, sugar dishes, and teapots add such character and they look lovely filled with florals! The trays seen in the first photo can serve as chargers and appetizer offerings would look mighty special on those larger handled trays. Also, notice in the last photo that we have several ice buckets for chilling wine, juices, and drinks.

The blue hue you see through the front windows are from grow lights that were installed last week. We’ll be adding a few more plants to this area. And, the sign from the previous studio has been cleaned up a bit and is now on display outside our door. Yay!

Lastly, the open wall in the main room has been bedecked with a large mirror and vintage floral gallery. (Darn, we see that the reflection is not exactly want we intended so that needs to be investigated! Hopefully, it’s just the angle in which we took the photo.)

That’s it for our update. A few more projects and we’ll start planning for an open house to be announced in the near future and, you will be invited!
