Vintage Blue and White China

Southern Vintage Table Events – Blueberry Styled-Shoot, Part 1

It’s blueberry season and this styled-shoot, designed by Emily of EKE Events and Chiara of Windy Hill Farm, was a winner from the very start. Who doesn’t love blueberries – the fresh taste, the gorgeous blue color, and the nutrient-richness – all captured in one little fruit. This inspirational theme had lots of places to be creative and, when you see these glorious photos by Autumn Harrison Photography, you will agree!

Emily and Chiara, along with this talented group of vendors, all brought their blueberry-ness to Windy Hill Farm. Since there’s much to share -the main reception table, dessert table, sweetheart table, bar, & assorted details – we want you to slowly savor all of this loveliness! So, today’s blog is Part 1 and next week we’ll followup with Part 2.

Today, we are focusing on the main reception table. To coordinate with the blueberry theme, the table was set with our vintage blue and white plates, dusky blue goblets, silverware, and napkins. Also on the table are our vintage milk glass candleholders and wooden pedestal candle holders. Finally, did you notice those darling little egg cups that were filled with Windy Hill’s freshly picked blueberries? πŸ™‚

As always, an essential touch to any tablescape is the florals and Rabbit Foot Floral‘s arrangements are magnificently crafted in her vintage vessels. In Post 2, you’ll see more of her floral talents on display. The final table detail is the delightful blueberry menu cards by Emily Ruth Prints. More of her stationery suite will be forthcoming.

This shoot was distinctive in many ways and one was that an actual meal was served, family style! Prepared by Cyril of Harvest’s Table, this meal was both delicious and beautifully presented. One extra treat was that the vendors were invited to enjoy this meal afterwards. (The mac and cheese and cornbread were oh-sooo good and the salad had fresh, edible flowers!)

Thank you, Emily and Chiara, for inviting Southern Vintage Table to your shoot! Next Sunday we’ll feature even more creative spins on blueberries including the sweetheart table, dessert table, bar, and other spaces. Stay safe and eat blueberries!

β€œForget who you are and why you’re here-all that foolishness. In the woods the bushes are full of blueberries; go and pick some.”

Southern Vintage Table Events – A Peek of a Vintage Summer Styled-Shoot

Oh my! When we were invited by Colleen Winstead of @lilyandvinephotoco to provide the table settings for this shoot at @cedargroveacres we were elated! Yellow is our favorite color so using our vintage yellow stoneware patterns along with vintage amber goblets was the dream palette for us! Today we are sharing a few of the sneak peek photos Colleen sent us and, based on these beauties, we can’t wait to see more!

The first layer of the table setup were the linens. On the main table, we used a vintage kitchen cloth with yellow flowers. Doesn’t it look amazing? As noted, the table was set with vintage stoneware, amber goblets, stainless flatware, and amber napkins. For decor, our vintage wooden candleholders with amber peg votives and white tapers added a rich, natural touch.

We absolutely loved how the vintage chunky wooden candelabra looked in the center along with the gorgeous florals by @brandisbotanicals . (By the way, we have two of these candelabras and a round one in this style –perfect for a natural, Boho vibe!)

The sweetheart table was truly sweet with the vintage lace overlays, florals, and wooden accents. We adored the small amber vases with feather bouquets!

And, now that cake – what a stunner! This sweet creation by @love_cakenc was amazingly gorgeous and also delicious!

This is all we can share on this post – more lovely photos will be forthcoming! It was delightful spending time at this charming farm venue in Creedmoor and meeting all of the talented folks gathered together for the shoot. Well done, Colleen!

Southern Vintage Table ie now a proud member of the Green Wedding Guild! This group of wedding vendors has pledged to become better stewards of our planet while providing excellent services and products. Here’s the Green Wedding Guild pledge:

“We believe that we can all do more to reduce the waste generated by weddings, and that sustainable choices are within reach of all vendors and couples. We strive to make these choices accessible to our clients, and to become better environmental stewards through education and community. We may just be beginning our journey, we may not have achieved zero-waste, or we may already be green leaders in our field, but we are committed to learning, and to sharing what we learn with other vendors and clients along the way. By educating ourselves and our clients, we pledge to move toward creating a more environmentally sustainable wedding industry. We do this not only for ourselves, but for our clients and our planet. We pledge to be respectful, professional, and non-judgmental toward other vendors and clients. We will lead by example and support others on their own quest toward more sustainable weddings. We are not here to judge, but to inspire!”

Our company offers rescued vintage tableware and linens as well as vintage decor. These offerings are sustainable, recovered, and a reminder of our shared past. Vintage Feature – Something Old is Something Green

Green is much more than a color – it’s the essence of nature and emotes calmness, serenity, and rebirth. Prosperity, well-being, and optimism also are associated with this color and it makes sense that green represents environmental awareness and stewardship of our planet.

One mission of Southern Vintage Table is to be environmentally responsible. Our inventory of dishes, silverware, linens and decor are all vintage items found at thrift stores, auctions, yard sales, and consignment shops. Many family treasures also have been generously bestowed to Southern Vintage Table by friends and acquaintances.

When we use, repurpose, and repair vintage tableware, we are not only reducing our ecological footprint, we are embracing something very profound – that our shared past is to be revered, not thrown away. These pieces portray the history of the family dinner table from the early 1900s through the late 1990s and they are steeped in countless memories..

Vintage Plates in Basket

In addition to our rescue and reuse mission, we produce very little waste. Our commercial dishwasher is energy efficient and we reuse storage crates, racks, and bins, many of which are second-hand. Typically the only physical waste we have at the end of an event are plastic bags used to keep the rental items clean.

SVT has the something old while doing something green – sharing beautiful vintage items in a responsible, ecological manner. Whether you are looking for classic green crinkle goblets or the delicate pink dinner plates, choosing us means you are choosing green. From vintage plates to vintage decor, our inventory is eco-friendly, rescued, restored, and ready for you to appreciate and share with your guests.

Southern Vintage Table Event – Beauteous Butterfly Styled Shoot at the Museum of Life & Science

Hillary of Sincerely Weddings Event Planning had a vision – she wanted to assemble a group of talented vendors for a styled shoot at the Butterfly House at the Museum of Life and Science. This nontraditional venue is ideal for couples who love science and nature, and want a memorable wedding experience for themselves and their guests. As you will see from the marvelous images captured by September Photos , a wedding here can be pretty spectacular!

To prepare for the styled shoot, Hillary came to our studio and selected the vintage tableware for the reception. The vintage blue and white dinnerware with vintage amber goblets always make a statement and her design was impeccable! The bride’s bouquet, styled by Sweets and Stems, as well as the floral touch on the gorgeous cake by Rachel Bailey Cake Artist, incorporated the blue, white, and amber theme. Even the speciality drink served by Barbox carried this theme so deliciously!

Thank you, Hillary, for gathering us together for this stunning styled shoot! We all loved the final results and so did the butterflies!

Vintage Feature – 5 Reasons To Host a Tea Party!

Southern Vintage Table Vintage China Rental NC

Whether it’s the pretty vintage china, yummy tea and treats, or having fun with friends and family, the classic tea party is always a winner! If you are wondering why hosting a tea party is a such fabulous idea, here are 5 reasons that will convince you that your guests will love it!

~ Reason 1:  Tea parties are relaxing and festive affairs. ~

Sipping tea with friends and family may be one of the most relaxing ways to celebrate a special occasion. Whether it is a bridal or baby shower, birthday celebration, mother-daughter affair, holiday gathering, or an afternoon visiting with friends, a tea party creates calming moments of elegance we all enjoy.

~ Reason 2:  Teacups are exquisite, Delicate, and should be enjoyed! ~

We have many, many different patterns, colors, and styles of teacups. On display, these vintage teacups create a beautiful array which instantly launches the party atmosphere. Southern Vintage Table has more than 200 vintage teacups and we love every one of them.

~ Reason 3 – Tea serving pieces are beautiful and unique.~

Speciality tea serving pieces are fun to share with your guests. Vintage tea pots are as lovely as teacups, coming in a plethora of colors, shapes, and styles. Then there’s the classic tiered stand – it might be two tiers or three or even a tidbit tray or metal stand with individual plates – nonetheless, they display your treats in such a delightful way. There are vintage lemon dishes, curd and jam dishes, sugar and creamers, cake stands, and platters. All create a splendid sight on guest or buffet tables.

~ Reason 4:  Tea party treats are yummy. ~

A typical menu for a tea party includes a wonderful mix of finger food, such as delicious bites of tea sandwiches, petit fours, fresh fruit, and, our favorite, scones with lemon curd and jam. Other menu options include soups, nuts, the classic southern cheese straws, and small cupcakes. A choice of a cold beverage is always appropriate to offer your guests such as water, champagne, or even a tea cocktail.

~ Reason 5:  We can help. ~

Plan the menu, gather the flowers, and we can help with the rest. From vintage teacups to vintage lace overlays, we have the essentials and they are now listed on our updated “Tea Party Elements & Packages” page.  We also are featuring two specially priced packages for you to consider as well as an ala carte listing.

So, pick a date, make your guest list, decide on your menu, and give us a call. It’s time to relax, sip tea, and enjoy the moment with friends!

For fun, check out this recent article from the UK’s Daily Mail for advice on official tea party etiquette.  Personally, we love petite cupcakes with tea so we’re officially ignoring that one!

Vintage Feature – The Charm of Vintage Tins

Today’s post is an update from 5 years ago! When writing about the charm of vintage tins, we believed our clients would love and appreciate their beauty as we did. Voila – many did and below you’ll see photos of how sweet they look filled with flowers, cookies, or just by themselves!

So, here’s our updated version from February, 2014 with a few new photos sprinkled in as well as SVT’s new logo at the close!

Southern Vintage Table

We have fallen in love with another vintage item – tea, candy and biscuit tins. Tins, as they are called because of the tin-covered steel sheets they are made from, vary in colors, patterns, shapes, lids and sizes. The ones we have collected for Southern Vintage Table are simply charming!

A flat tin is perfect as a stand for just about anything!  With a set of bar glasses, a stack of plates, a vintage greeting card or a plate of cupcakes, these tins add color and history to the table.  Of course, you also can put things inside, like your forks, spoons and knives or cookies!

The vibrant colors of these tins are amazing!  Notice the different types of lids on this set of vintage tins.

This classic blue and white vintage tin is pretty both inside and out. When we picked this up from the thrift store shelf, an employee said to be sure to open it up.  The inside of the lid is also decorated – a small built-in tray!

We discovered that many of these are probably from the 40s-50s and up to the 70s. Filled with candies, cookies and teas, they became popular items in gift shops and department stores. The majority of our collection has a “Made in England” mark but there are some from Holland, Germany, and America. A few have no mark at all. One thing is certain about these lovelies; they have decorative and even functional uses on the vintage table!

These lovely vintage tins once held delicious things for us to enjoy. Now, decades later, they continue to enchant us with their sweetness and charm.  Add a little vintage delight with our vintage tins from Southern Vintage Table!

Southern Vintage Table Event – Winter-Themed Styled Shoot

Collaborating with vendors to create gorgeousness is one of our favorite parts of working in the event and wedding industry. Most of the time we are focused on bringing our client’s dream event to fruition, but when we work together on a styled shoot, creativity is wide open. From inception to finality, the cadre of professionals bring their skills and products to the themed shoot. Sometimes the theme may be like a fairy tale such as a wedding in the style of The Game of Thrones, or it may be a more authentic setting like a fall-themed wedding and reception. Both styles are designed to showcase wares and talents of the professional team and very rewarding to all.

For this photo shoot, winter’s rich hues amid elegance was the theme. Melrose Knitting Mill provided the backdrop for a bridal portrait styled shoot as well as a coordinating tablescape. To see the bridal portrait photos, please visit photographer Tugba Tuncer’s gallery on her website. The series of photos featured here, also taken by Tugba, perfectly fit the look of a sophisticated winter season tablescape. Twig and Tendril along with Fallon Flowers created beautiful florals to accompany our vintage place settings.

Many thanks to Tugba for inviting us to provide the table settings for this shoot!  Other vendors for this segment of the shoot included:
Venue – Melrose Knitting Mill
Photographer – Tugba Tuncer
Florals – Twig and Tendril and Fallons Flowers
Planner – A Day Soiree
