Southern Vintage Table Event – Beautiful Vintage Blue

Southern Vintage Table Vintage China Rental NC

As this week’s mailbox confirmed, one of our most popular rentals at Southern Vintage Table is our vintage blue goblets . Two of our clients shared photos from their blue-themed weddings; one was held indoors and the other was an outdoor celebration with the color blue taking center stage.

The first set of photos are from a March wedding at The Barn of Chapel Hill, shared by F8 Photo Studios. We love how our vintage blue glassware “pops” on Rochelle and Chris’ reception tables, designed by Kast Events & Company. And that photo from above of the single table? Wow.

Our second blue wedding was held in Whitsett at the Timberlake Earth Sanctuary, a unique outdoor venue “dedicated to honoring and protecting Mother Earth and all beings.”  Emma and Jonathan designed their place settings with our classic vintage blue & white china, blue goblets, and stainless flatware. As you can see from Photography by Kelsey Rae‘s photos, this wedding seemed right at home with its serene surroundings.

Love blue as much as we do?  Our vintage offerings may be exactly what you want for your next celebration!

Vintage Feature – Jenn & Teague’s Wedding is on Chic Vintage Brides!

Southern Vintage Table Vintage China Rental NC

We received some most exciting news this week from Erica of Folie à Deux Events! Jenn & Teague’s wedding has been featured on Chic Vintage Brides!

Beautifully captured by Rebekah Senter Photography, “An Earthy Yet Elegant Rustic Wedding at Rigmor House,” describes Jenn & Teague’s wedding day along with the preparations leading up to their nuptials. As you read along and view the photos, you’ll feel like you were there, enjoying the day alongside everyone. Don’t miss out on Jenn & Teague’s interview questions about their experience with the planning process.

Our part in their wedding was to provide tea accessories for the afternoon tea.  Here’s how Jenn  and Teague described their reception.

“We chose to do the reception in a British afternoon tea style, as we love having afternoon tea and wanted to share it with our family and friends! Jenn used to live in the UK when she studied modern and medieval Welsh (Celtic) literature and language at Bangor University in North Wales. Because of Jenn’s love of Celtic history (she’s a redhead after all!), we also integrated little touches of Welsh, Irish, and Scottish traditions into our wedding day and décor.

For the afternoon tea dishes and cutlery, we were very lucky to have Southern Vintage Table in the Chapel Hill area. Shelly, the owner, provided us with a gorgeous array of blue-and-white plates and porcelain tea sets, silver-plated cutlery, and other key serviceware items we needed for our afternoon tea reception. She even helped with dressing the tables and wow, the end result was more stunning than I imagined!”

Okay, we are beaming after reading this!

Southern Vintage Table Event – A Village of Vendors Meet at Forest Hall at Chatham Mills

Southern Vintage Table Vintage China Rental NC

Last Sunday we headed to an open house at Forest Hall at Chatham Mills in Pittsboro. Every facet of wedding vendors was present. From food, drink, and florals to music, photography, and rentals, professionals were ready and available to help guests with their wedding plans. These wondrous photos, courtesy of Morgan Caddell Photography, captured the moments just before the doors opened.

In addition to our business table, we set the tables at Forest Hall with our vintage white stoneware, blue & white dishes, flatware, glassware, and napkins. Centerpieces and decor were arranged by two talented floral vendors; farm tables- All In Bloom, and round tables – Barn of Chapel Hill. With both round cloth-covered and bare farm tables presented, folks could envision the versatility and beauty of this historic space.

Southern Vintage Table Event – Three Terrific Takeaways from Rose Hill Styled Shoot

Rose Hill Styled Shoot by Events by Memory Lane

Recently I received the most exciting invitation!  Stacy Newburg, event planner and owner of Events by Memory Lane, was organizing her first styled shoot and asked if we would like to participate. Recalling our wonderful collaboration at Anna & Anthony’s wedding last summer, I said “yes!” and that was even before she revealed her blue & white vintage Southern elegant theme, a look I absolutely love.

After selecting the vintage table settings, linens, and decor pieces together one afternoon, Stacy then invited me to help on the day of the shoot. Intrigued to see the behind-the-scenes of a photo shoot, I just couldn’t pass this up. Even though we have provided items for many styled shoots and have appreciated the beautiful photographs from them, I haven’t actually seen the entire process  at work and this was my chance!

Well, let me say, the day of the styled shoot was busy, busy, busy, and pretty darn awesome!  The weather was gorgeous at this breathtaking historic venue, the vendors organized, models dressed and styled, and photographers on the go. Stacy planned everything, from the table settings to the boutonnieres to the enthusiastic and beautiful models. Breakfast and lunch were served, and a detailed plan set for all to follow. It was quite impressive to see the day play out.

Here are three takeaways from this marvelous day!

One – It requires a lot of coordination to pull off a styled shoot. As you can appreciate below, a full lineup of vendors is needed to create a mockup wedding day. Many, many kudos to Stacy for selecting such a terrific group of wedding professionals, and for her passion and joy.

Two It’s all in the details. The teamwork of Stacy and Tiffany was phenomenal.  When the professional photos are ready, you’ll see exactly what I mean!

Three – Being a professional photographer takes technical skill, an artistic eye, and endless energy. As I watched Tiffany and Aaron throughout the day, they were busy practically the entire time, taking photos of every tiny detail, encouraging and prompting the models on every shot, and making absolutely certain they captured that perfect photo. Although I have long appreciated the fine work of professional photographers, seeing these two in action took my admiration to an even higher level.

More photos coming soon! I want to sincerely thank everyone who took part in this day. I loved meeting each and every one of you and look forward to the next time we meet!

Southern Vintage Table Event – Bass Family & Friends Thanksgiving Reunion

It was the perfect day for our annual Bass Family Reunion!  This wonderful tradition began in the mid-60s by Wiley and Susie Mae’s children – Christine, Aline, Weldon, and Wiley Jr – as a time set aside each Thanksgiving for the extended Bass family to share a meal and reconnect. Every year since, we have continued this tradition, and although many dear family members are no longer with us, we remember and honor them by being together.

For this year’s gathering, Southern Vintage Table set the tables with our vintage blue & white china patterns and amber glassware collection. Our mix of creamy-white table linens were covered with burlap runners and adorned with petite arrangements of greenery, votives, and pumpkins. Large bouquets, created by Rowena, were placed at the entrance table and on the food tables. (Many thanks to the setup crew – Sandy, Amanda, Travis, Allie, and Rowena!)

With the 60+ family members and friends bringing their favorite dishes for the buffet line, we enjoyed an incredible feast. (Just for the record, some of those dishes are assigned to certain chefs in the family because, we all know, they make the BEST … turkey & dressing, baked ham, mashed potatoes, collards, sweet potato casserole, chicken-n-dumplings, deviled eggs, chocolate eclair cake, coconut cake, carrot cake, and many more …)

For the newcomers, we loved seeing you and hope you’ll come again.  To the folks who were not able to make it, we missed you and hope to see you Thanksgiving 2016!  As shared in our previous post from Thanksgiving 2013, “once again, the Bass Family came together on Thanksgiving.  We hugged, we feasted, and we parted, feeling content and connected.”

PS – We must remember to get a group photo next year!  Now, who will be in charge?  (Insert smiley/winky face here…)

Southern Vintage Table Event – A Marriage Celebration for Taylor & Cameron

http://kristymay.com

My previous two posts revolved around a special event for our family – the marriage of our daughter, Taylor, to the love of her life, Cameron. Two weeks ago I shared how to make a no-sew bunting in preparation for our party and last week I posted a few photos from that evening. This week it all comes together as I have more photos of our lovely celebration as well as the cosmic back story of Taylor and Cameron’s romance.

Ever since she was a young girl, Taylor wanted to visit Australia. It was her dream. In fact, as her friend, Thomas, reminded her, she declared that not only was she going to travel to Australia, she was going to marry an Aussie man. Well, the cosmos must have been listening because that’s indeed what happened.

Her chance to visit Australia came as a Study Abroad student during her sophmore year at UNC-G. Within two weeks of arriving at James Cook University in Townsville, Queensland, Taylor met Cameron and they started dating. When Taylor returned to UNC-G after her semester abroad, they continued their international relationship. Cameron came here for a year and Taylor went there for several more. Eight years following that first date, they married in NYC with friends Ryan and Jamie at their sides. Then they came home to celebrate with family and friends.

Taylor and Cameron wanted a family party rather than a wedding reception. With The Big Barn Convention Center as our venue, I knew Southern Vintage Table‘s vintage casual china collection would be a perfect match. The Big Barn, a rustic, historic venue just outside of Hillsborough, is owned by my husband’s cousin, Donna. Donna was so pleased we were having Taylor and Cameron’s party there because she was present thirty years ago when Randy and I celebrated our marriage, right there at The Big Barn. A sweet cosmic message, I am convinced!

With the venue set, I began brainstorming ideas for the tables. My vision of blue & white and yellow casual china patterns on vintage printed tablecloths was a good start but I knew I needed more help. Fortunately, my sister, Sharon, is the owner of RSVP-Events so I went to see three of the savviest women in the event-planning business – Sharon, Tammy and Lindsey. With their advice and expertise, I started finalizing our vintage family theme.

Blue & white and yellow vintage china plates, clear vintage goblets, vintage silverware and white napkins, pansies in milk glass, small bouquets of yellow, blue and white flowers from Fernrock Farm and, as the main feature, vintage kitchen printed tablecloths. At Southern Vintage Table, we have a growing collection of these wonderful table coverings, but we didn’t have quite enough for our party. Luckily, Priscilla, another savvy friend, let me borrow a few from her amazing collection.

After Carrie took me to pick up flats of pansies at a local plant store and my dear Yaya friends signed up for the appetizers, we were almost set.  All was left was to order the BBQ, slaw and stew from Allen & Sons and an assortment of homemade pies from K&W. Joy was preparing her famous southern-style green beans and Rowena was baking wedding cookies. Lastly, Anne Honeycutt’s DJ service was going to bring the music. With Jami’s gorgeous floral arrangements featuring Fernrock Farm‘s flowers, here’s how it all came out!

As you can see, it was colorful, casual, vintage and beautiful!  But, more importantly, it was fun and wonderful to celebrate this sweet occasion with our dearest friends and family. The loving cosmos has graced Taylor and Cameron and we are all very excited for them.  Cameron, welcome to our family!

Southern Vintage Table Event – A Field Dinner Experience

Envision yourself in the middle of a quiet country farm field, away from stoplights, traffic and city noise.  The sun is setting and you begin to notice the symphony of night critters. But, you are not alone. You’re with your favorite friends, feasting on made-from-scratch delicious food prepared by a talented chef. A delightful assortment of chilled beverages are ready for all to enjoy. Sound wonderful?  Yes, it was!

The vision for this outdoor dining experience came to Sharon and Tammy of RSVP-Events over a year ago  They wanted to host an outdoor dinner in Ruby’s field on a beautiful fall or spring night. They invited Southern Vintage Table, Donovon’s Dish and American Party Rentals to join together and offer this evening as a raffle prize at their monthly Triangle NACE meeting. When Heather’s name was called, she was ecstatic. Imagine hosting a party for your friends and all you have to do make a guest list and show up!

The night for the farm dinner was set for a Sunday evening in early June. RSVP-Events designed the event and prepared Ruby’s field.  A path and party area were mowed, twig light balls were hung, candles lit, flowers arranged, signs made and furniture set in place.

After consulting with Heather and then Christian from Donovon’s Dish, Tammy came to Southern Vintage Table to plan the table settings. Pairs of classic blue & white china patterns were chosen to go down the farm tables provided by American Party Rentals. To complement the blue & white china patterns, vintage clear glass salad plates and goblets were selected. We also chose pairs of serving dishes for the delectable dishes – BBQ chicken, fresh salad, string beans, quinoa, succotash and sweet potato biscuits.

We used a set of vintage hammered aluminum trays for the chicken, an assortment of blue & white bowls  for the side dishes and bread baskets for the family-style meal.  Glass compotes, which once held Big Top Peanut Butter, were selected for the individual strawberry shortcake servings. Tammy loved the vintage aluminum mugs for her flower and herb arrangements and the wooden cake stands were perfect to group the small bouquets on the table.

Now everything would have been absolutely perfect except one little thing – a light summer evening rain. But, in actuality, it worked out beautifully. Ruby’s field, graced with the magnificent colors of the setting sun, was center stage for the evening’s opening appetizers, drinks and guitar music by Daniel Wray. Dinner was served in the living room of Ruby’s home place and then guests returned to the field under the glowing twig lights and evening stars for their fresh strawberry shortcake dessert.

It was a magical evening – the food was wonderful, the natural pastoral setting was inspirational and guests were very appreciative. These field dinner experiences are offered by RSVP-Events with limited availability. If you’d like to host a unique dining experience for your guests, contact Sharon or Tammy. They’ll be happy to talk with you and, of course, so will Southern Vintage Table.

These beautifully artistic photos were provided by Scott of Scott Faber Photography.

Vintage Feature: The Blue Vintage China Table

blue willow set
Clementine would be pleased that her Blue Willow teapots will be enjoyed by many admirers of her favorite china pattern.

What do The Andy Griffith Show, The Munsters and old Westerns have in common?  Well, yes, they are all midcentury classic television but there’s something even cooler – they share a common dining table setting,  the Blue Willow vintage china pattern. These famous shows set their table with this blue and white pattern because it is crisp, vintage and full of history. First designed in the 18th century, Blue Willow has been on generations of family dining tables and continues to be popular today.  Read more about this fascinating pattern on Wikipedia.

Southern Vintage Table Vintage China Rental NC
As told in the Blue Willow legend, star-crossed lovers were transformed into doves after their tragic deaths. According to Wikipedia, these birds did not appear on the early willow patterns.

There’s something special about blue vintage china that many folks appreciate.  Blue Willow features dark indigo against white that’s so striking. Blends of light blue vintage china are soothing and inviting.  Vintage turquoise has a romantic flair while blues with greens, pinks and yellows present a cheery table.

Whether it’s the classic blue and white vintage china table setting, a myriad of blue vintage china stoneware patterns or a mingling of soft elegant blue vintage china patterns, your guests will love it.  Check out more blue vintage china patterns available at Southern Vintage Table on our Pinterest Board! plate
